The 4 of us got on our bikes at 8:30 and got on the River Walk/Mission Trail here at the CG. We rode 4 miles to the Guenther House Restaurant to enjoy a delicious breakfast on the outdoor patio. The house, built in 1859, is located on a bend of the San Antonio River, at the foot of King William, one of the oldest historical districts in Texas. The Guenthers started the Pioneer Flour Mill and it is still in operation today next to the restaurant. So, Ken and I had to share the Pioneer Breakfast special so we could try food containing their flour - the sausage gravy over their homemade biscuits. What a treat! The pastries especially the cinnamon rolls and the sticky buns called our names too, but we avoided the temptation!

From there we got back on our bikes and rode around the King William Neighborhood looking at all the beautiful old homes. It really is a very wealthy, old neighborhood.

Back on the River Walk where we rode into downtown San Antonio. We turned around and headed back to the CG, stopping on the way to visit the last of the 5 missions, Mission Concepcion. It has more of the original building preserved than any of the other missions. It is one of the country's oldest, original stone churches. The sanctuary was simple, but beautiful. They have restored the original frescos (drawings on the wall) and they are amazing! It is still an active Catholic Church!

We got back to the CG at 12:30, ate lunch, and Ken and I headed to HEB, the wonderful grocery store here in Texas! After getting back to Waldo, Ken worked outside to get ready for our departure tomorrow. He loaded the bikes and then disconnected the sewer and water. 3 times we have had work done to correct water getting into our water tank when we are hooked to city water. Twice since we arrived here our water tank has filled and we have had to empty it by using the water via our water pump. They did replace both valves at Lazydays and felt they had corrected the problem - wrong! Hopefully that will be addressed at Tuscon.
I cleaned the inside including vacuuming and washing the floors and then downloaded photos and worked on our blog. Seems like I spend so much time writing and downloading between the blog, my nightly diary, and the journal I started just on this western adventure. Keeps my evenings rather busy!
Ken made us salads for dinner and Chuck and Melissa brought barbequed, shredded brisket and rolls for all of us. We ate inside Waldo since they had cleaned their Motorhome and brought in all their slides. Their site is under 2 mulberry trees and the amount of sticky mulberries and bird droppings they got on their rig was amazing. They wanted their slide toppers to be clean when they brought them in, so they had to do it today! The sandwiches were delicious and after cleaning up, we played 2 games of Skip-Bo (the women won both) and 1 game of Pinochle (women won again!). We decided to call it a night at 9:00 since we hope to be on our way to Big Bend by 7 AM. After all, we have 460 miles to drive tomorrow to reach our destination.
We have certainly had a wonderful time in San Antonio! The area and the River Walk were beyond my expectations. One to cross off my bucket list!!!!
