Almost to Sharon's Beach The Lump!! |
Yesterday we had such a fun day at Marco Island with Dave and Sharon Horst. (They are former residents of the New Holland area). We got to their community at Marco Island around 9:30, had fun chatted, changed, and then headed to where their boat is docked.
Shelling on "Sharon's Beach! |
Headed out to "Sharon's Island", really the Lump, to shell. The island is just covered with so many kinds of shells. The weather has been so calm lately that there were not as many large shells and varieties at last year, but we certainly found plenty. We relaxed and snacked on their boat and then did more shelling. On the way back we spotted a large sea turtle and some dolphins. Stopped at Dave's favorite fishing hole and he caught 3 silver trout and a whitey in a short time. Back to the dock where the pelicans enjoyed "watching" him clean the fish and get some of the extra "goodies". Back to their house to enjoy happy hour. Then they treated us to a great supper of the fresh fish, roasted veggies, salad, and her fresh strawberry pie. What a treat! Ken said it was probably the freshest and best fish he ever tasted. It was such a special day with special friends. We got back to Willie at 10:45, exhausted but full and happy!
