The girls had a good night's sleep and were awake around 6:15. We heard them go to the LR to get their bags of candy, return to their bed, and then start counting all the pieces and of course, comparing who got the most! It was fun to just listen.
They finished watching the movie, "Beauty and the Beast" while I made another batch of Mickey Mouse pancakes, as per their request. I am getting good at these pancakes! I showered and then Samantha wanted a shower too. So I wrapped towel around me, got back in the shower, and helped her with hers. Ken had done all the kitchen clean-up while we got ready.
The girls spent time playing with the Barbie's and coloring. Both of them are good little artists!
The 4 of us left at 11:00 to got to Sue and Dan Burkholder's annual 4th of July picnic and celebration. Sue and Dan are the in-laws of Jamie and wonderful grandparents to Bria and Cali. They invite us every year and we always have a fun time. PaPa spent over 2 hours playing in the pool with the little ones - what a guy! Katelyn got tired and asked to take a nap - amazing how she will do that! I woke her after 2 1/2 hours.
At 3:15 Ken and I drove Samantha and Katelyn to their house and Lanie and Bob had just arrived home. They were so appreciative that we had kept the girls while they were at a weddig in Connecticut from Thursday till Saturday. After visiting for a short time, Ken and I went back to the Burkholder's party, staying until 8:30. It was a fun day with family and friends!
The apartment seemed so quiet when we entered and organized! We loved having the granddaughters with us, but getting back to our normal routine is good too!
