Ken and I were up by 6 AM, made a cooked breakfast, and finished loading the CRV. We were on our way to the beach by 7:30, earlier than we had planned - imagine that!
It was a very nice morning for driving, but traffic was rather heavy in certain areas. We did stop twice for drinks and the bathroom arriving in Bethany around 12:15. Instead of taking the normal 3+ hours, it took us over 4 1/2. Check-in time for the condo was 2, but when we stopped by the rental office it was already cleaned and ready to "move in"! Ken and I went next door to one of our favorite places to eat in the area, Cottage Cafe, for lunch. It was a restaurant we often went to when we owned our condo in Ocean City. As per usual, it was delicious.
We picked up the key and were at the Condo by 1:30 and the unloading and unpacking began. Jamie's family arrived around 2:30 and we helped them settle in. Ken and I played games with Bria and Cali while Dane and Jamie went to the grocery store. They had spent the last 7 days vacationing at Dane's parents vacation home in Rehobeth Beach, so they wanted to get the necessary groceries for their family.
We decided to "eat-in" and had a rotisserie chicken, fresh corn on the cob, and salads. We were able to eat outside on the deck and it was a delightful evening. We did more game playing with the gir s and then Ken, Jamie and I started working on a 550 piece puzzle. That should keep us busy for a while. Bria and Cali were in bed by 9 and then the 4 of us played a game of Hand and Foot which the women won by a huge margin! We were in bed by 11:45 fairly late for these old folks!
It was a fun 1st day of family vacation!
