A Touring Day!

We got up at 7:15, dressed quickly and headed to the campground laundry.  It was a necessary chore that needed to be done.

We went back to Waldo and I got ready for the day, returning to the laundry to do the drying process.  It took my computer with me to work on the blog. Doloris called me and we had a very nice chat.  So good to talk to her and catch up on their lives.  This weekend is the birthday party for there 1 year old granddaughter, Faye. What a special time.

By 9:45 I was back to Waldo and Ken had made four salads for the next 2 days. We put the clothes away, I ate breakfast, and then had a nice talk with our daughter, Lanie! So good to hear that all is well with her family.

After finishing my blog and doing some e-mails, the 4 of us were on our way by noon to King Arthur Flour where they have been in flour production for 225 years.  You don't get to tour the plant, but they do have a wonderful retail store where you can shop, learn, dine, and enjoy.  There you can watch artisan bakers at work and shop for all your baking needs from top-quality ingredients to tools, mixes, pans, and more.  You can also take baking classes and sample treats from their demo kitchen.  They have an inviting cafe and bake shop where we enjoyed some great pastries including delicious coconut macaroons. Yummy!!!!

Quite a history!

Lots of good looking chocolate chip cookies to be baked!

Fancy breads!

Too pretty to eat!

So many good looking products for sale!

Delicious looking breads too!

Inviting cafe area where we enjoyed some pastries!

An attractive building both inside and out!

We left there and drove to the town of Woodstock where we walked the downtown area going in and out of the many shops and galleries.

A pumpkin totem pole!

The main street of downtown Woodstock!

With their recommendation, we drove to the Long Trail Brewing Company where Ken could taste their Limbo IPA.  It was a good choice.  We were able to eat on their deck along the water and their food was very good.  Then we went upstairs to look down on their brewery.  Unfortunately they were done working for the day, but we could still get an overview.
A new craft beer for Ken to try!

He really enjoyed their Limbo IPA

A nice setting for lunch, but it was a little cool when
the sun decided to go in!

The beer bottle filling and capping machine!  This machine
cost more than the building!

This is a very efficient brewery where every square inch is
used and the equipment maximized!

From there we were overwhelmed by the beautiful fall foliage on the scenic drive to the Killington Ski Area.  We really decided the leaves have reached their prime here in Vermont.  The colors are breathtaking and Ken was oohing and aahing the whole drive.  I can't imagine how many photos he took out of the car window.  When we reached Killington we stopped at one of the cable car ski lifts to take additional pictures.

The colors are magnificent!

Another picture of the colored reflection in the pond!

Getting close to the ski slopes at Killington!

A beautiful view!

The ski lift to the top of the mountain!

What a sight to behold!

On the way back we stopped for some delicious ice cream and at a local roadside stand to buy apples.  It was on the honor system where no one was there but you put your money in a cash box.  Chuck, Melissa, and I decided to ask Ken the price of some veggies or fruit everytime he got close to the car to see how many times he would go back and forth before he realized what we were doing.  Ken, being the good natured guy he is, did it about 3 or 4 times before we all burst out laughing.  What a guy!  Then we stopped at a place where Ken could use the porta John.  Chuck pulled the car right in front of the door and I wish you could have seen Ken's face when he opened the door.  It was priceless!

Poor Ken!  We were hard on him today, but he sure gave
us some good laughs!!!!

We arrived back at the CG by 6:30.  This was definitely a more relaxing day.
The 4 of us got together at 7:30 in Waldo to play games!  The women won all 3 games we played.  Ken and Chuck called Doloris - they think she put a "spell" on them when the 6 of us played games in New Jersey.  She confirmed that she did and it would cost them a lot of money to remove it.  They aren't sure what to do!!!!
