Ken and I were up by 7:30, cooked breakfast, and got ready to play pickleball. The 4 of us left the CG at 9 and went to a park near the campground where they have 5 pickleball courts. It was already almost 80 degrees and even though they had predicted a cloudy day, the sun was shining brightly. It was hot!
Chuck and Melissa hadn't played since last March and Ken and I played last at Hershey when Ken fell and hurt his wrist and back in July. I think he was a little tentative about playing, but willing to give it a try. We had such a good time. We were a bit "rusty" at the beginning, but after several games we were having some great hits and volleys. We played about 1 1/4 hours and decided that was enough for our 1st time back in the "groove".
We stopped at a nearby fruit market where they have soft serve orange ice cream, but they were closed. Imagine that!!!!! It would have tasted so good to these hot and tired pickleball players!
Upon returning to the CG, Chuck, Melissa and I headed to the pool to cool down. Ken wanted to do some work on the computer and was searching for a better insurance policy for Waldo. We relaxed at the pool enjoying the water and doing some reading. We returned to our RV's around 1 for lunch.
Ken had a successful time finding a new insurance policy for Waldo and making some calls to friends. He also did some work on the computer checking e-mails, accounts, etc.
After lunch we all decided to relax a bit and then go to the shuffleboard courts around 3 for some men vs. women competition.
Ken took a nap and I showered and then did some work on the computer. Had a very nice chat with Marcia Kreider, a good friend from back home. It was so good to hear from her. She is trying to arrange a "field trip" for all the Curvette ladies and the date they picked is a bit tough for me. So we talked about other possible days. I will try to make it work on the day they planned if that is the best time for all of the ladies. I look forward to seeing them and spending the day together.
At 3:15 we did go to play shuffleboard and the men were victorious both games. There were a few rain drops while we were playing, but not enough to be an excuse for our loss. Chuck and Melissa went to pick up Chuck's repaired bike and Ken and I played a game of ping pong. I was the winner!!!!!
Back to Waldo where Ken offered to make salads for dinner and saute peppers, onions and chicken together as a "topper" for the salad. What a guy! It started raining around 5:30 and continued until about 7:30. Sounds nice to hear the rain when inside Waldo!
Chuck and Melissa were here from 7:30 to 10 and we played 3 games - Skip-Bo, Pinochle, and Spades. The men won every game and rather handily. Not sure what happened, but tomorrow is another day!
