After driving 219 miles and with 2 stops, we arrrived at Encore Verde Valley CG around noon. The drive to the gate of the CG was at least 1/2 mile back their road and then another 1/2 mile to our actual campsite. This is the most "spread out" CG we have ever stayed in. They have 4 separate areas for camping and from the 1st one to the last one (where we are staying) is a 1/2 mile. It in the valley and a wonderful setting with an address of Cottonwood, AZ. We have about 26 miles into downtown Sedona, but this CG was part of Thousand Trails Ready, Camp, Go and we could stay for $20.00/night, so we are happy to be here.
After getting all set-up, we ate lunch and then walked over to Gregorys to discuss our plans for the day. It had taken them some extra time to get level. We stopped and played Foosball, and we each won a game. We have a blast when we play that game. Then it was a round of miniature golf that was won by the men. Next, 3 games of ping pong with the couples playing against each other. Wow, are we ever an active group!!!! Then we stopped at another area on our way back to check out the pickleball courts, pool, and hot tub. In that clubhouse, there was another Foosball table, so of course we had to play the tie breaker and the women won! Yes!!!!!! All the amenities at this CG are well maintained and the equipment is in good shape! Impressive!!!
We had "Happy Hour" at their motorhome on the way back drinking some of the Kirkland bottle of margaritas we bought when we were at Costco! Pretty good! Then we went back to Waldo to have dinner. Gregory's joined us at 7:30 to play Cue Me and Pinochle. The men won Cue Me and the women came through right at the very end to win Pinochle. (For those of you who are familiar with Pinochole, we were losing by a large margin throughout the game, but slower gained points ending the game with double Pinochle!)
We are excited to head into Sedona tomorrow to get info and decide what we want to do while we are here! We only leave next Thursday, so we should have enough time to do the important and fun things.
Tomorrow we will get some photos of the CG.
The Verde Valley train ride is pretty cool. About a 4 ride. We liked it. Lots of hiking trails around Sedona. You HAVE to go up the mountain to Jerome if you have never been there.
ReplyDeleteHope you love Sedona as much as Galen and I did. The rock formations and colors are phenomenal!! Couldn't stop saying, "Oh my gosh, look at that one!"
