Along the way we saw many more fields of produce being grown and orchards including onions, strawberries, nuts, oranges, and lettuce being harvested. Still can't believe all the produce that is grown in California. It is such a big business and water supply is a major issue! As we got close to the CG we passed a beautiful lake/reservoir area and the mountains were gorgeous too.
There are orchards on both sides of the road! |
More Fruit trees! |
Beautiful flowers in the center of the interstate! |
Getting close to Three Rivers, CA |
There goes Chuck and Melissa! |
A large lake close to the campground. We haven't seen many lakes in the parts of California we have visited! |
Love the scenic byways! |
We arrived at the CG around 1 and were set-up by 2:30, just in time for another late lunch! This CG is very close to the entrance to Sequoia NP but is the most expensive one we will be staying in at $55.00/per night. It appears that phone service and internet will be spotty, but we have many TV channels. 1st time Ken and I have had TV service for 2 1/2 weeks and we really didn't miss it, except for The Voice which we could watch at Chuck and Melissa's. (They have satellite).
Around 5:00 we met at the side of Chuck and Melissa's site to have Happy Hour. What a fabulous view and the relaxing sound of the babbling brook. The CG really offers a great setting.
It's a tough life, but somebody has to do it! We volunteer! |
Gorgeous setting, huh???? |
Hey, my cup is empty!!!!!!!!! |
After dinner and clean-up, Chuck and Melissa joined us in Waldo for games. Not a good night for the women - men won 7 Up and Pinochle! What is that about??? Well, both boys did the driving today and Melissa and I always "let up" wen they have had a tough day! We called it a day around 9:15. I think the boys have "big plans", but we shall see what happens!!!!!! Boys will be boys!!!!
Looking forward to checking out another National Park tomorrow - Sequoia. Stayed tuned for more pictures and info and thanks for taking time to read our blog. I surely appreciate it!
WOW, sis... your pix are amazing! Can hardly wait to make the trip but decided we should wait until Kylie goes to doggie heaven. That might be a while though... recently talked to a lady who just put her 20 yr old pug in a rest home... really!! We just arrived today at Sea Pines in Cape May, NJ. Looking forward to the "non-hecticity"!!! Dolores and Fred... will you be here in the next few days? (List your ph# when my phone died)

ReplyDeleteAnd we are also looking forward to when we can make that "West" trip...we don't have to wait for doggie heaven....worse - we have to wait for retirement!
So, Bonnie how did the boys' plans go??
