By 9:45 we were in their van and on our way for today's road trip on back roads leading to an area with lots of lakes and where the "rich and famous" folks go to get out of Toronto and spend time in their "cottages" in the lake communities. Of course we made several stops at Tim Horton's, but the 1st one had loooong lines at the drive-in and inside. We probably waited at least 25 minutes to get our drinks. We left there as soon as we were served and continued on our drive mostly in the Muskoka area seeing the 3 major lakes, Lake Muskoka, Lake Joseph, and Lake Rosseau and the little towns/villages along the way.

1st :Lake Stop - Lake Muskoka! Gorgeous! |
"Cottages" along the shoreline! |
To Ken and I these are Adirondack chairs, but in this area they are Muskoka chairs! |
This is the 1st waterfall we saw -
Everywhere we go we get to enjoy the gorgeous flowers! |
We stopped at a newer Tim Horton's (built last year) near Port Carling and bought take-out sandwiches which we ate on the pier overlooking the locks. It was sunny with a slight breeze and in the mid 70's. We went through a couple shoppes and then were on our way.
Where we ate our lunch. No bad, huh??? |
This is the boathouse to one of the "cottages"! |
A busy day for boating! |
The gate open to the lock! |
....and now it is closed! |
An explanation regarding the locks! |
While in Port Carling, Ken finally got to see and touch a moose -
and we got to see more beautiful flowers -
Our last "touring" stop was at the 2nd waterfalls -
We really appreciated all the driving Barry did and Deb's navigation to see a different type area outside of busy Toronto. We only got back to their house around 6:45 so it was a long day of driving for Barry covering many miles for the 2nd day in a row. He will be so ready for a rest when we leave tomorrow!
Ken and Barry took Quinn for a walk and I downloaded photos and worked on the blog until it was time for our 8 PM dinner. We had pork loin, mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts - again, delicious. We spent about 1 1/2 hours out on their deck chatting before calling it a day around 10:30.
We have had a great time with Barry and Deb and certainly appreciated their hospitality. They have provided us with a wonderful 3 nights and 2 days of touring their area and enjoying their company! Thanks so much, Barry and Deb!
Just wanted to share some photos of the outside of their home and all the work Barry has done with the landscaping. No grass to mow at their house!
Ground cover and stepping stones plus lots of perennial flowers. Barry did all the plantings for his property and the neighbor. |
Their raised deck in the back! Again, nothing to mow! It looks so nice and is very private! |
