Ken and I were up at 5, got ready, finished loading the car, and were heading out the driveway by 6. Seems so odd to be leaving for a week's adventure in the card and not in Wilbur! It was already 73 degrees and humid but somewhat overcast and hazy!
Our 1st stop was over the river at Harrisburg at a Sheetz for some coffee and hot chocolate before getting on Route 15. 2nd stop was near Edinboro where we had breakfast at a Perkins. By then it was a little after 8:30.
Back on the road and around 11:30 we were in a customs line to enter into Canada at Niagara Falls. It took us about 25 minutes to reach the "window" where the gentleman asked us the standard questions, but when we told him we were visiting friends he wanted to know how we knew them. We said we RV with them in Florida and he looked at our CRV and asked why we would come in this small vehicle when we could be in our motorhome? Fair question! So we all laughed and into Canada we went.
We stopped at a Subway right after the border for lunch and called Barry and Deb to give them a possible arrival time, not anticipating the crazy, heavy traffic near Toronto. It was insane! It took us 2 1/2 hours to get to their house after leaving Subway and it was only a little over 100 miles! By the time we arrived it was 93 degrees and so humid. I thought we headed north!!!
It was so great to see them and the area where they live. We spent time just chatting around their kitchen table and then they provided dinner - salads and rotisserie chicken, the perfect meal for Ken and I. Then it was time to play Skip-Bo and of course the men won both games! Not sure how that happens.
We then discussed an itinerary for the next 2 days and decided to drive to Niagara Falls tomorrow with part of the trip through a scenic area. We are excited. By 9:30 all of us were tired and we called it a day!
Looking forward to a special time with special friends!
