Ken was up by 5:15 and started his morning reading. He woke me at 6:45 and I did most of my stretches and exercises before we left for my 8:10 Dr. appointment with the orthopedist. Do you ever wonder why you went to an appointment and are you misunderstanding or are there conflicting statements? That's how both Ken and I felt today.
It seems to me that it would be nice if Dr.'s would at least look at your chart before coming in the room to talk with you, but what do I know???? Anyway, long story short, I am staying on the anti-inflammatory medication and will have a consultation with a pain management specialist regarding an injection in my back. I told the Dr. that my hip had been a lot better following the shot he had given me in it, but now the pain has returned about 50% or more. Also, I am experiencing more pain in my legs and he confirmed that is from my scoliosis, which I had already figured out - Dah! He feels an injection in my back may help my legs, but both Ken and I got the idea that there really is no guarantee and even my hip, with spurs and arthritis, may be as good as it will get unless I want a hip replacement further down the road! Wow, not really anything I wanted to hear! But, I guess I need to accept that it is what it is!
We stopped for a few items at a local roadside produce stand and then I spent the morning making a double batch of oat bran muffins and cleaning up my "mess"! Ken worked at his desk getting a bit frustrated trying to make reservations for our trip to New England the end of September into the beginning of October. I think he finally accomplished the task!!!
After lunch, I worked on my blog and did my devotions which I didn't have time to do this morning. I decided to go to my craft desk and try to make a few cards. I had fun being creative! Ken did more reading.
Later we worked together making salads for tonight and tomorrow. We ate dinner on our deck, cleaned up, and then went for a walk. What a gorgeous evening with lower temperatures and humidity and a nice breeze. When we returned we played one round of Hand and Foot and Ken didn't even get into his foot. He declared me the winner - YES!
I did some crocheting and Ken checked his e-mails and facebook while watching American Ninja Warrior. We were in bed a little before 10.
Today, Tuesday, Ken went to the LR very early with a headache, but did go back to sleep. He was reading when I came out at 7:30 after doing my exercise and stretches. We decided to go for a morning walk and again, it was a beautiful weather day. Upon our return, we ate breakfast and then got ready for the day.
After a quick lunch, we left at noon to spend the afternoon playing pinochle with Mom and Dad. It was good to see them again, since we weren't there last week because of our family vacation. It was a terrible day for the ladies - we lost all four games and by rather large margins! Not sure what happened!
We were home by 5:15 and Ken took a very short nap while I worked on this blog. We had salad and Mexican "bowls" we had bought at Costco and they were positively delicious and healthy! Ken left for Celebrate Recovery around 6:30 and I spent the evening watching America's Got Talent while doing some x-stitch and crocheting.
We were in bed around 10 and enjoyed doing some reading. These past 2 days have provided some much needed rest and relaxation.
