This was only our 2nd time spending the night in Wilbur at a Wal-Mart parking lot. This particular one was recommended by a gentleman at Edgewater Church who stops here every year on his way home. It is very well lit and they have security. All that said, Ken and I turned out the lights at 9:30 and at 12:15 AM we both woke to a knock at our door - rather unnerving!!! I could look out the window from our bed and a middle age gentleman was there with a cup in his hand. We both think he was homeless and looking for a handout, but we have no interest in the middle of the night. He knocked a 2nd time, but then he was gone. Unfortunately we didn't see where he went so it made us a bit uneasy, but we could see our car from inside and he was not there. After about 1/2 hour we went back to sleep and the rest of the night was peaceful!
We woke at 6:00 and it was very foggy, so we went back to sleep and got up at 7. We were on our way a little before 8 and stopped for gas as soon as we got into VA. The entire drive went very well with great weather and reasonable traffic. We stopped at a rest stop to eat our breakfast in Wilbur and made a few more potty stops. We decided not to go on I-95 around DC because of people going there to see the cherry blossoms on such a beautiful warm weekend. Going by way of 17 over to I-81 added an additional 60 miles which is another hour of driving. So, we only got home at 3:45 and almost another 400 miles of travel. We were thankful to get home safe and sound. During that time I did talk to Cindy and they got home at about the same time. Rather amazing considering we both left on December 26 and then arrived home within a half hour of each other!
We immediately began unloading the car and then backing it up to Wilbur to load many of the remaining items that were still inside. By the time we had everything unloaded we were rather tired. We put a few things away and then went to Mo's for Mexican bowls for dinner. We planned to just spend the evening relaxing, but that didn't happen. We spent all evening unpacking boxes and bags and by the time we went to bed at 8:45, at least 3/4 of our "stuff" was in its proper location.
It certainly didn't take us long to fall asleep. I can't imagine how tired Ken was after doing all the driving these 2 days. I didn't drive at all!!!!
