Ken was up at his usual 5:00 to do some reading, but I only rose at 7:30. It was a beautiful sunny morning but only in the upper 40's. We had a cooked breakfast, showered, and then I did devotions and worked on this blog while Ken took a nap - he went to bed too late and got up way too early!
Melissa had an eye Dr. appointment this morning, so we only left the CG at 11 to spend the rest of the day with them. Here are a few pictures of their lanai area -
More time to chat when we arrived and then we got in their car and drove to Fenney, another section of The Villages but on the other side of Route 44. This area was started in May of 2017 and when we were here that November construction was going strong, but not many homes were occupied. The amount of homes that have been built, are sold, and the hundreds (maybe 1,000's) under construction is mind boggling. Between new homes and resales, they average about 15 settlements per day!!!!! I can't begin to fathom that the supply and demand continues strongly after all these years. About 120,000 folks live in The Villages and it is definitely quite a "town/city"! The quality of the homes, the amenities, hospital, doctors, gorgeous landscaping, etc. is beyond belief. I find it fascinating.
We stopped by Steve and Sally's home, friends Chuck and Melissa met in San Antonio who moved into a new home in Fenney in September, to meet them and tour their beautiful home. Steve and Sally joined us to play the Putt Putt Golf Course that is 18 holes of just interesting putting challenges. It was a lot of fun and the course was amazing.
Then the 6 of us went to the pickleball courts where only Chuck, Melissa, Steve and I played 5 games. Sally wasn't interested in playing today and Ken has decided that pickleball is a sport that is not a friend of his foot problems. I think his pickleball career maybe over! We had a good time playing and some good volleys.
From there we were off to play shuffleboard and the 6 of us had another fun experience. We said our good-byes to Steve and Sally and the 4 of us went to dinner at Fenney Grill and Bar located beside the large, beautiful clubhouse. We were able to eat outdoors and Ken and I had some of the best chili ever!!!
We drove back to their home where we spent the evening playing Pinochle, a game we taught Chuck and Melissa about 5 years ago and so far they haven't found anyone else that knows how to play the game. They were excited to have a chance to play it again. The men and the women each won a game. We left their home around 10:30, tired but happy. We went right to bed when we returned to Wilbur.
Just a few photos of The Villages -
