Ken and I were at the church by 9 to work at the food pantry. We had plenty of food items for our clients today including lots of fruit, produce, bread and desserts. They were appreciative of all the food they received.
After clean-up, we all left the church around 12:45 and about 16 of us went to lunch at Outback. We had such a good time plus great service and delicious food. What a special group we have become a part of!
Back to Wilbur by 3:15 and Ken did some reading while I did my devotions and "caught up" on my blog. I had a wonderful phone conversation with Jamie and then Ken and I "face timed" with Bria and Cali for over 1/2 hour. Jamie got on occasionally too! It was so nice to see them and chat.
We had planned to go to a Southern Gospel concert this evening that is held at a church in Punta Gorda every Friday evening (some of the Food Pantry Group attend), but we would have had to leave as soon as we finished our chat with Bria and Cali and we were also tired. In the meantime, we got a call from Noela asking if we would be available in the morning to take them to the Ford Dealership that is nearby. They had to have some major brake work done on their truck and had dropped it off this morning and it was finished around closing time. Amazing that the shop could complete the work so quickly. They were in Venice with their family and their daughter-in-law was going to drive them back to the CG. Long story short, we volunteered to pick them up when they were ready to return. So, Ken and I headed to Venice to get them at 6:30 and they were extremely grateful. We knew there was a reason we didn't go to that concert tonight and we were thrilled to help them. We will also take them to pick-up the truck in the morning!
When we returned, Ken did some additional work on his testimony, I did this blog, and then worked on some counted x-stitch. It has been another great day and we certainly appreciated the warmer temperatures - in the 70's with off and on sun. Starting on Sunday we should be in the 80's for the next week with nighttime temperatures in the 60's. You people up north have our sympathy!
