Tuesday - Warmer, with Some Sunshine!

After a relatively good night's rest, we were up by 6 and got ready for our day.  We were at breakfast by 7:15 and it was another good one with French toast, bacon, fruit, eggs, oatmeal, toast and drinks.  We are being fed way too well and I am afraid the scales will show it when we return to Florida.

After breakfast, we walked to the Depot to begin our jobs for the day. Burt, Pat, Ken and I were there 1st ones there, so the lady in charge gave us a tour of the warehouse.  It is amazing how many disaster relief kits they have ready to send when a disaster strikes here in the states.  Those kits include school, hygiene and the cleaning buckets.  Following the hurricane in Texas and the flooding in the Carolinas and Virginia, five 18 wheeler trucks left here with the kits to help those in need.  The amount of kits that are waiting to be gone through and those that are ready to go is amazing.

There are 4 rows of items just like this that are verified ready to ship
and the rest not yet verified.  That is what we are doing with
the buckets and school kits this week.  Going through each
one and making certain they have all the necessary items
required so they can be sealed and ready when needed!

These are just some of the disaster buckets!

Extra items waiting to be bundled for the school kits.

All the items that are placed in the
cleaning buckets!

Today I helped with the school kits again and Ken continued with the cleaning buckets.  Our team was in charge of clean-up after lunch which includes scrapping and washing the dishes, cleaning the tables, and doing the floors.  I must say we were very efficient and finished in record time!

Ken returned to his same job after lunch, but I attended another meeting with the musical leaders for our Thursday night Vesper Service.  I returned to the Depot around 2 and we all worked there until our shift ended at 3:15.

Our Team had devotions at 4 and then we had choir practice for anyone who would join us to participate in the Vesper Service.  Amazingly we have a choir of about 18 and out of a total group of 57, we were thrilled.  Practice went well and we are looking forward to being part of that service.

By then, it was time to eat again and it was burrito night - delicious!  Back to our room so Ken could rest a little while I worked on this blog, and then we got together with Burt and Pat to play Hand and Foot. (Bob and Carol decided not to play tonight).  Burt and Ken told us they had met in the bathroom during the night to strategize about how to win this game.  Unfortunately it didn't seem to help because they conceded after 3 rounds!  We laughed so much tonight that we all had tears.  We were so silly!  We were back to our rooms by 8:45 and got ready for bed.  It has been a wonderful day, but very busy!
