We packed some snacks and drinks and clothing for the day and went to Doloris and Fred's hotel so they could follow us to Nokomis Beach. We were on the beach by 11 and it was beautiful. The breeze did get stronger as the day went on, but we had long sleeved shirts when needed. Ken took a long walk and found some nice shark's teeth and about 7 pieces of beautiful pieces of seaglass, including a gorgeous dark green one.
Beautiful Nokomis Beach! |
At 3 we left the beach and got on our bikes to ride to the Casey Key Fish House for a late lunch or early dinner. Of course we got to enjoy the bike ride along the beautiful Casey Key Road so we could "take in" all the "huge mansions". That ride is incredible with the gorgeous homes and the view of the Gulf and the Intracoastal waterway. Fred and Doloris loved their grouper sandwiches and the nice setting on the water. We rode back to the beach and departed for Venice and the South Jetty to enjoy the sunset. Unfortunately some clouds blocked seeing the sun actually set, but the sky was still colorful.
Riding along picturesque Casey Key Road! |
One of the beautiful homes along Casey Key. They are displaying the flag British Flag! |
Fred and Doloris have heard us talk about and write on our blog about Casey Key Fish House. They finally got to experience it! |
......and the grouper sandwich lived up to its reputation! |
A view of Venice from the South Jetty! Yes, it was a bit chilly! |
Heading out on the Jetty for the sunset! |
The sky was beautiful, but too many clouds for a total view of the sunset! |
The Happy "Floridians"! |
This fisherman was feeding the blue heron some shrimp! |
We spent the evening in Waldo playing Hause (women won), Skip-Bo (won by the men) and then Up the River with Ken being victorious. It was a fun day with many exciting activities.
So much fun to be spending time with close friends and fellow campers from PA! |
Ken's treasures that he found while walking on the beach today - some nice sharks teeth and 7 beautiful pieces of seaglass! |
I did talk to Melissa when I saw that Nashville was only 24 degrees and in an ice storm. Fortunately, they had left Nashville yesterday and headed to Atlanta to see their daughters and their families. They will go back to Nashville on Wed. morning in their car and leave the motorhome in Atlanta so they can accompany her mother to a Dr. appt. They are planning to be on their way to Florida sometime next week. We are looking forward to seeing them the beginning of March in Pine Island!
