A Gorgeous Day Filled with Great Experiences!

Ken and I were up around 7:15 and did our normal morning routine - he made breakfast and I got ready!  What a deal!  We packed for the beach and were on our way to Nokomis Beach by 10:30.  Again, Fred and Doloris were there around the same time!  It was a beautiful, sunny morning with temperature starting in the 40's, but it got in the low 70's.  It was a great beach day!

Ken did his 10,000 steps and we all did some reading, plus shell and shark's teeth hunting!  We don't find as many shark's teeth on Nokomis Beach as Manatee, but none the less, it was a successful day!

What can I say???  Beautiful!

These are traps used for capturing stone crabs.  They take one
claw off the males and then return them to the water.  They
will grow another claw.  Ken tasted them for the 1st time
on this trip courtesy of Neil and Nancy, and he said they
tasted like Maryland Blue Crabs!

A view of the North Jetty!

Love the glistening water!

A gopher turtle that lives at Nokomis Beach!

At 3:00 we left the beach and walked across the bridge that spans the Intracoastal Waterway to a wonderful place to eat outside and overlook the waterway - Pop's!  All of us enjoyed our meals and drinks!

We just crossed this bridge before they opened it (thank goodness)
on our walk to Pop's!

This is the back of Pop's overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway!

Here we are waiting for our food.  That is a big firering
in the middle of the table!

From there we headed back to the beach where there was a small craft show set-up.  We went back to the beach to get ready for the Saturday night drum circle.  Fred and Doloris had been reading about the drum circle for years on our blog and this was one of the events they really wanted to see.  This was the largest crowd Ken and I have ever seen here, at least 500+ people.  It was crazy.  The only thing missing was "feather man" and this was the 1st time he wasn't here when we have attended.  Disappointing!  But, with all the people and the gorgeous sunset, we could not complain!  Of course Ken and I had made arrangements for the sailboat to be in the water in line with the sunset. These tour guides think of everything!  It really was a festive evening!

So many people on the beach for the sunset and drum circle!

Lots of folks in the middle feeling the beat of the drums!

The people kept coming!

This gal was an "artist" with her hula hoop!

Anticipating the sunset!

There's the sailboat us tour guides provided!

Through the eyes of a hula hoop!

Breathtaking!

We didn't pay for the second boat!  That was a bonus!

Almost gone!

Another Day has Ended!

The 4 of us were back to Waldo by 7:30 and enjoyed some snacks and game playing.  It is hard to imagine, but the women actually won Skip-Bo and allowed the men to beat us at Haus!  It only seemed right!  By 9:30 all of us were tired, so we called it a day!

I can't believe over a week has passed since Fred and Doloris arrived.  The time has flown by, further proof that there are less hours in a day and less days in a week when you are in Florida!  Tomorrow we will have another day on the beach with them and they will be heading back to PA early Monday morning.  We are sad to see them leave.  We have loved sharing Florida with them and appreciate that they made the trip.  Special friends are such a blessing!!!!
