Saw this tree on our morning walk and not sure what is growing on it! Could it be papaya?????? |
They get fairly long and thinner as they grow! |
This was a beautiful bush with lovely flowers! My friend, Doloris would know what it is!!! |
We ate breakfast, talked to Lanie, and then Ken talked to our neighbors while I had a cup of Chai and read. So nice and relaxing! Then we went outside so I could cut Ken's hair - it was needed! While we were out, Paul and Deb stopped by and we chatted for quite awhile. Then we gave them a tour of Waldo. They liked the floor plan and the colors. I had a very light lunch and then changed to go to the pool. It was in the upper 50's this morning with sunshine, but around 1:00 the sun disappeared even though it warmed to about 72. I changed and decided to ride bike to the pool, cloudy or not! I spent about an hour there reading and meet a gentleman, Bill, who was looking for someone to play pickleball. So, maybe Ken and I will have a chance to place later this week.
My hair cutting skills in action!! |
Ken is so trusting. He offered to cut my hair too, but I turned him down. He's good with a lot of things, but I know his limitations!!! |
I was back to Waldo by 2:45 and planned to make some jewelry outside, but I got a shower, changed, and then Ron had invited us to their motorhome to show us how to open a coconut to get out the coconut water/milk and the fresh coconut. It really is a process. We brought half of the coconut back with us and Ken separated the coconut meat from the shell. I hope to put some of it in Ken's specialty coconut drinks he makes for me. We came back to skype with Lanie, Samantha, and Katelyn and it was a special time. So good to see their faces and interact with them. The jewelry making never happened! Oh well!!!!
Removing the hard shell with a hatchet! |
Then removing the "hairy part" under the shell! |
There are 3 holes that would make a great face for a fish or a mask! |
He drilled the one hole to remove the coconut milk/water! |
Look at all that coconut meat! |
Back at Waldo, Ken removed the coconut meat from the shell! It was hard to do and required 1 bandaid to stop the bleeding! |
I think I will grate some of the meat to put in drinks! |
I was extremely hungry so I made us salads and warmed up leftover chicken and quinoa. Ken wanted to eat later. He went over to talk to Larry and Paul across the road from us. I decided it was a good time to do this post after finishing my dinner!
Did talk to my mother today and to my sister. Cindy was at the foot specialist and they discovered she has a stress fracture in the bone between her heel and ankle. So she is wearing a boot for about 2 or 3 weeks until she gets a brace that will fit in her shoe and up her ankle for support until it heals. She is allowed to go on the beach, but should do limited walking! Amazing how repairing the hip caused a problem to the foot. It's like robbing Peter to pay Paul!
Neil and Nancy invited us to their campsite for a campfire with their friends, Bill and Marilyn. So we rode our bikes to their site with our chairs. It was a bit of a feat!!! We were there from 6:30 to 7:45 and had a nice time chatting and sharing stories! It was a nice calm and very mild evening, but they are predicting rain overnight! We shall see! Neil made us keep the chairs at their site - too dangerous to carry on our bikes when it is dark! There went the challenge! We watched TV and I made some jewelry. This was a relaxing day and we had many opportunities to spend time with friends! Life is good!!!!
Fun to sit by the campfire! |
I noticed those red flowers, too. They look a lot like the pentas I often plant in the spring. I actually have some silk flowers that resemble them, too.
