Our 1st Full Day at Pine Island Was A Relaxing One!

I woke up at 6:30 and Ken was reading in bed.  I fell back to sleep and got up around 7:45.  Felt good to sleep in and have no agenda!  I got ready while Ken continued reading.  He got up around 8:30.  We made a cooked breakfast and then decided to go for a walk.

Today was partly cloudy in the morning with a few showers early and late afternoon, but around 70.   From our campsite to the front of the campground it is 1/2 mile.  So we get a good start on our walk before leaving the area. Ken said we would go towards St. James City and walk about 5,000 steps before turning around, but he lied!!!!!  Along the way we found a new preserve area and Ken wanted to walk in and "check it out"!  It is a nice area but will take a little time to get totally up and running!  By the time we returned to our campsite it was starting to "drizzle" and we had walked 13,000 steps!  Ken just gets carried away!

If you look closely there is a cattle egret with these steers!
It appears that each of the birds chooses one steer as its "mate"!

These 2 look like buddies!

Every year we enjoy these palm tree plantation/nurseries!

So many beautiful palm trees!

While back at the preserve, Ken spotted this bald eagle!

They have built numerous "boardwalks" and bridge areas
in this new preserve!

It started to rain a lot heavier by the time we got inside Waldo.  We ate lunch and both showered.  Ken read and took a nap while I played a game on he I-Pad and then sat at the picnic table making jewelry!  Ken did more work on our trip for out west and we both shared ideas on how much to drive daily, where to stop, etc.  We still have hours of work to complete these steps for the entire trip, but we are getting there!

While sitting at the picnic table I noticed that water was running on the ground from Waldo.  We have been having some trouble with water getting into our water holding tank when we are hooked to city water.  Lazydays is aware of it and it is on their list of warranty repairs for March.  Ken went to drain the fresh water tank, but apparently the valve is broken or stuck.  So we will run our water pump and drain the tank.  We did talk to Lazydays and they recommended we get a mobile RV repairman to come to the park and give us an estimate to repair it.  It will be covered by Winnebago.  We shall see how all that comes together!

It started to "drizzle" again, so we went inside and Ken made some phone calls while I did more jewelry.  I made us salads and we had leftovers with them for dinner.  Neil and Nancy Savage stopped by for about 1 1/2 hours just to chat.  We had a nice time.    They left at 8 and we spent the evening watching TV and I worked on this blog.  So nice to have "slow down day".  Not sure what we will do tomorrow, but we are now on "island time"!
