We decided not to rush this morning and go to 10:45 Church instead of 9 and it proved to be a good decision. Usually when we take Samantha and Katelyn to church with us Bria and Cali are there too, but they are at the beach this holiday weekend. Samantha and Katelyn weren't excited to go (they don't know any of the kids!) but they had a good time and blended in very well.
We were back home by 12:30 and had lunch. Ken went online to see if we could find a park in the area that they would enjoy. Just this spring they build a very large playground called Daniel's Den on the grounds of a church near Mountville, which was about a 35 minute drive. So, we packed a few snacks and some drinks and off we went. The girls enjoyed it (we played hide and seek with them some of the time) but all in all I would say they are probably a bit old for it.
Quite a special playground! |
Katelyn enjoyed the climbing wall! |
Both liked the monkey bars but they should have been a little higher! |
Lots of interesting features.... |
....including a little balcony! |
It was a very hot day, so the misting area felt great! |
Samantha needed to "cool down" too! |
On the way back, we stopped at Isabelle's again and all of us got the same ice cream flavors we had there yesterday! We walked to Candy Ology, but they were locking the doors just when we arrived. That was a good thing, because the girls certainly didn't need any more "sugar"!
We did some relaxing when we returned and then Ken grilled chicken and hamburgs for dinner and I made corn on the cob. Dinner was a success. Around 7, Ken decided he should take the girls for a walk to the park. I decided to stay back and relax, as my back wasn't ready for another walk. They only returned around 8:20 (it was dark), because they had also stopped at a free concert downtown where they got leis, a peace necklace, an inflatable guitar, and yes, FREE ice cream. The girls were so excited with all their special "treats" when they got back.
The free concert behind the Historical Museum area in Lititz! |
At 10 we told them it was time for silence and so ended the day!
