Ken was up right after 4 AM, way too early! He did some reading and fell back to sleep on the couch for a short time! After breakfast, we got ready and went to Rohrer's Quarry to pick up Wilbur with his "new shoes"!
While there, we hooked up the CRV because the last time we attempted to tow it, the braking system would not work properly. Ken thought the system probably needed some adjusting and after some starting and stopping, he solved the problem - go Ken! We did tow it to a nearby Sheetz to make sure it was towing correctly and we had no issues. So, we disconnected at Sheetz and we both drove home. We will keep Wilbur here at the apartment until we leave for Avalon on Sunday - that is the plan unless Hurricane Florence doesn't cooperate. Compared to what the people in North and South Carolina are anticipating, we have no problem staying home and not a thing to complain about!
At 11:30 we headed to Ephrata to the Mennonite Resource Center for their volunteer appreciation luncheon. Ken and I sat across from Landis and his wife, who is the 87 year old gentleman that usually works there 4 days per week (imagine!) and Ken and he have so much fun together on Wednesdays. It was easy to see that they definitely admire each other and appreciate working side by side. I told Landis that Ken wants to be him when he grows up! That got a good laugh from him and his wife. There were about 180 folks who attended and the meal was delicious. The folks who spoke were extremely informative and inspiring. I really learned a lot about the Resource Center and the amount of kits and canned meat that get sent from the Ephrata facility each year. The numbers are staggering!
We left there by 1:45 and drove to the Hershey RV Show. We have always gone in the morning so this was our 1st time to enter the show after 3 and we were iat the show without having to stand in line! 1st we went inside to check out the vendors including Thousands Trails, Encore, Passport America, Good Sam, Camping World, etc. We were also searching for a place to camp in Florida for the week after Thanksgiving and were excited to get a week for $99.00 near Port Richie. We are looking forward to checking out that area before heading to Harbor Lakes! After calling Noela, we booked the same week for them at the same resort and look forward to being together there!
Got a call from Cindy that they were at the show also and wanted us to check out a Southwind Motorhome that had a floor plan they really liked. So we met up with them at the Southwind model to check it out! It was very nice and I believe they will be having some discussion about making a purchase. Ken and I left to check out a vendor that was selling outdoor rugs. We finally found the color and size we needed and made the purchase.
When we got to the car we checked in with Cindy and John and the 4 of us met at Duke's near Hershey to have a late dinner together. It was a lot of fun to spend time with them. They were going home to discuss the pros and cons of buying a different Motorhome. I am anxious to hear their decision after they probably make another trip to the show tomorrow!
We were in bed by 10:45! It was a very good day!
