Ken and I slept well at Jamie's these past 2 nights. We were up by 6:30 and got ready to go to church. Cali got up around 7:30, but we had to wake Bria at 8:00. Cali and I enjoyed some pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon sugar and Ken and Bria had cereal. We were on our way to LCBC by 8:30 and it was rainy and very cool, only about 55 degrees! Ken actually had on long pants!!!! What is that about???
We sat with Lloyd and Deb and it was the start of a new series called "I Quit"! Today's sermon dealt a lot with excuses we make and if your excuse isn't more important than the thing you are missing, it is a mismatched excuse. Definitely something to think about!
Ken, Bria, Cali and I left church around 10:45 and went to Sheetz for some hot chocolate and coffee (it was cool today) and the girls also shared a donut. Back to their house and it was definitely a miserable weather day! Ken loaded our things in the car and then we played some Uno and Skip-Bo with the girls.
Jamie and Dane arrived back home from Pittsburgh at 1:30. They had gone through some torrential rain on the 1st several hours of their drive. The weather for the Pitt/Penn State game last evening was miserable with lots of rain the entire game and only 55 degrees. And on top of all that, they are Pitt fans and it was a terrible 2nd half for the Pitt players. Jamie actually left at 1/2 time and Dane after the 3rd quarter. But, they did have a fun time with several other couples especially on Friday night when the weather was very nice.
Ken and I left there around 2 and we stopped to pick up Wilbur. I followed Ken to the service center at the Stone Quarry near our house where Wilbur will get new "shoes" tomorrow. We unloaded the car when we got home, unpacked, and got comfortable for the remainder of the day.
I watched the Steelers game (rather disappointing), crocheted, and then had a nice chat with Polly. We made salads for dinner and tomorrow night, but I decided not to eat dinner, because I had plenty to eat this weekend!
Ken and I watched the local and national news and then played 2 rounds of Hand and Foot. I was so far ahead that Ken declared me the winner! Wow! Then we chatted about our plans to leave for a camping trip to Avalon, NJ on Wednesday for a week. The weather forecast is not good for most of this week and the weathermen aren't sure of the path for Hurricane Florence which could bring additional rain. Also, Ken and I will be very busy on Tuesday, making it rather difficult to prepare for leaving on Wednesday. MCC is having a luncheon on Wednesday for their volunteers and their spouses and we also usually go to the Hershey RV Show which is this week. So, after a good discussion, we changed our reservations for Avalon, now only being there Sunday to Thursday and then going directly to Hershey Preserve from Thursday to Sunday and leaving that day for our trip to New England. We were originally going to be home for 4 days between Avalon and New England, but by camping at Hershey we won't have to do any unloading - hallelujah!
We spent some time watching the Bears/Green Bay game. The Bears new head coach, Matt Nagy, graduated from the same high school where Ken and I graduated. Quite a big deal for the little town of Manheim!
I did have a great chat with Jan Good, who is part of our Life Group from Church. She had great news - her husband, Alton, had a stroke about 1 year ago and he has had such great improvement the last month. Also, they found a house to rent in Venice Florida from Jan. to March of 2019, so our Life Group will all be in Florida this winter and within driving distance of each other. Only Marvin will not be there, but he is hoping to come down for a week or 2.
We watched some of the 2nd half of the football game and went to bed around 10:30. It has been a busy weekend and another rainy one!
