Thursday - Time to Leave Avalon and Head to Hershey Preserve!

Ken got up at 5:30 and by 5:45 I was up and about also.  We both got ready and then he went outside to unhook the water and electric while I made sure everything was safely put away inside.  We pulled out of our site by 6:45, hooked up the CRV and were on our way to Hershey by 7:10.

We stopped at a WaWa around 8:30 where we made oatmeal inside Wilbur and then went inside the store to get coffee and pumpkin spice cappuccino.  When we got to Lititz, we stopped at Sheetz to get gas for Wilbur and while there, we disconnected the car.  I followed Ken the next 20 minutes to Hershey Preserve Campground.

The ride home went well except when we got off the Delaware Memorial Bridge.  We were doing great until we took Exit 6A instead of 6B and ended up driving into a town for about 10 minutes before finding a place where we could turn and get back on the right road.  Oh well, what does it matter if you add another 20 minutes to your trip????  It isn't good if you are towing a car and the streets really begin to narrow, but Ken did a great job driving and we eventually found our way to Route 41.

The Delaware Memorial Bridge is quite impressive!

We were able to get a pull through site at Hershey, but it proved to be rather unlevel.  We had to use some boards under the tires but we worked together rather well to accomplish the feat!  I put out a few necessary items and Ken hooked up the water and electric.  We ate a quick lunch and by 12:30 we were on our way to Masonic Village to play cards with my parents after stopping to get drinks for the 4 of us.

It was a fun afternoon playing Pinochle (well sort of!) because the men won all 3 games again!  What is that about??????  Mom and Dad were very grateful and appreciative that we were able to get together today.  Ken and I left at 4:45 and decided to stop at Wendy's on the way back for dinner.

Back to Wilbur around 6 and we were able to get some TV stations and actually watch the Nightly News.  We had no TV reception in Avalon, so it was good to see what was happening in the world, although some of it was rather depressing!

I did my devotions, downloaded photos, and worked on this blog while Ken did some reviewing of his homework for meeting with his sponsor for breakfast tomorrow and for his Step Study on Saturday.  Both of us were rather tired from our busy day and were in bed early!
