Day 4 - A Travel Day to Duson, LA

Ken and I were up by 5:45 and were on our way out of the CG by 6:45. Fortunately it was not raining when we were getting ready to leave, but the forecast for the drive to Duson was not so good.  We knew we would be driving through a lot of rain, and that proved to be correct.  We drove through the heaviest rain we have seen for a long time.  It was really tough to see!  Ken did a great job and all went well.  We have never been to Alabama or Mississippi so the drive was exciting.  We passed an oil refinery and drove on the long, long bridge over the Bayou.  The amount of water in all the low lying areas was unbelievable.  There has been so much rain in all these areas and they have flash floods warnings all around us.

We are on our way!!!!!  Another state!

At this point in our journey it wasn't raining!

Oh no!  It looks like it is going to be raining very soon!

Here is comes with a FURY!!!!

It may be pouring, but we are moving on - Louisiana!
A view of  the skyline in Baton Rouge and the Casino boats!

An oil refinery in Louisiana!

This is the long, long bridge and it is still raining!

Melissa called soon after we were on our way and they had left Atlanta this morning at 7:30 (central time). They thought they may meet up with us this evening, but they will see how the traveling goes, especially the rain.  We are so anxious to see them again. I talked to Nancy Savage and they are enjoying being back in PA and RETIRED!  Also having fun times with their 1st grandchild, Olivia!  We stopped at the beginning of the trip and right before going into the CG to get gas.  Also a short stop at one rest area and then a longer one to eat our lunch.  We arrived at the CG at 2:30 and it wasn't raining - WOW!  The people at the desk were so friendly and helpful, even willing to save the site beside us for Chuck and Melissa.  The sights are nicely stoned and level, so set-up went well and we even have WiFi and cable!

This is nice, small CG with only 65 sites.  Hey, Cindy, you and
John should hop on over to Frog City!

Waldo is so excited to be on this adventure!  Lazydays gave
him a bath, but it didn't take long at the last CG to get filthy
and so muddy.  The rain did help "clean him up" today!

I talked to Melissa soon after we arrived, and they were just about ready to enter Louisiana, which means they are about 3 hours away!  They really are going to try to make it to this CG.

I decided to clean Waldo and then do some relaxing while waiting for Chuck and Melissa.  Also downloaded some photos and started my blog!

Ken and I had leftovers for dinner and had just started eating when Ernie called from Canada to check on us.  So nice to talk to him.  While Ken and Ernie were talking Chuck and Melissa pulled into the site beside us!  It was so good to see them.  We had driven about 320 miles today, but Chuck and Melissa did over 600.  Wow!  After welcoming hugs, we went in to finish eating and give them time to get set-up.  But, first we had to take a picture of Melissa and I.  We were dressed like twins!  Must mean something!!!!!

I think Melissa wore this color shirt because she
knows it is my favorite!  Maybe will try to be
twins everyday - NOT!!!!

Our motorhomes, CRV's, and the 4 of us are so excited to begin on our adventure together.  Can't believe we will be spending the next 2 months with Chuck and Melissa.  It is going to be a very memorable 60 days.

  1. Frog City, huh. Just doesn't seem right that you're there instead of us!! Sorry for all the rain you've had to endure, but sounds like you're having a grand time in spite of it all!! Sure is a lot to see in this country and you've only just begun!!!!! Continued safe travels!
