Easter Weekend with Family!

It was a cold morning with temperatures in the high 30's.  Where is spring???Ken and I left at 7:45 to go to a restaurant in Manheim for breakfast with some of our friends from high school.  They meet the 1st Saturday of every month and it is rare that Ken and I are available.  There were only 8 of us, but we had such a nice time.  We left at 10 and drove to Ephrata Church of the Brethren for the Easter egg hunt.  Lanie, Sam, and Katelyn had come, but Jamie's family had to stay home because Cali was still running a low grade fever.  The church does a wonderful job with their annual egg hunt and they even have craft stations for the little ones inside the church when the hunt is finished.  Decorating the sugar cookies was one of the favorites! We were thrilled that Lanie made the 35 minute drive even though her sister was not able to come.

Katelyn loves to be with her Mommy!

The hunt is on!!!!!

Time to check-out the treats inside all the eggs!

Samantha and Katelyn enjoyed decoratng their cookies but
eating them was even better!

We left there at 12 and went home so I could prepare the potato filling and clean-up.  Ken took a short nap.  Then we sat down to go over the 2 possible travel routes and plans Melissa had sent us for after we leave Yosemite.  Ken and discussed them and then called Melissa and Chuck to make a decision.  We were all in agreement about which plan would be the best and then we worked together to make reservations for the 2 CG's following our stay in Yosemite. Things are really coming together and we are all getting so excited!

At 4:00 we went to church for their Easter Service.  It was a very inspirational message!  After leaving there, we were invited to Sue and Dan's (Jamie's in-laws) for a " light" dinner buffet.  Sue had a party the night before and had so many leftovers and they were delicious.  We had a great time of food, drink, and fellowship, but by 9:30 we were tired and ready to call it a day.

Sunday morning we were up at 7 and I did 2 loads of wash and we started packing somethings for our trip.  Because we are just driving without the motorhome, we can't take any frozen and very little refrigerated items with us.  Also, most of the dry foods and canned items should probably go with us.  Thus, there is quite a bit of packing to do!

We arrived at Lanie's house at 10:15.  Lanie has been making Easter dinner for the family for the last 3 or 4 years.  Jamie's family were there right after us and we had an Easter egg hunt for the 4 little ones.  Fortunately it was a warmer day with plenty of sunshine, but it was rather windy!  Cali was back to normal today, but we still tried to be careful what she ate.  Lanie and Bob had a delicious meal of grilled filet mignon, crabcakes, chicken, potato filling, sauteed green beans and angel food cake.  After clean-up we went outside to play Kubb, a fun game of which Bob is becoming quite the pro.  He is going to participate in a Kubb tournament in Wisconsin in July with 3 co-workers this summer.  They practice everyday at lunchtime in the backyard at the office.

No, Jamie!  The Easter egg hunt is for the little ones!

Miss Bria!

Cali, don't be upset! There are lots of eggs
in the yard!

Sam is racing for another egg!

The hunt is over and their buckets are full!

I love being with our daughters!

Our 2 special daughters, Lanie and Jamie!

We take these Kubb games very seriously!

The whole Hosler, Hickes, Burkholder crew, minus Katelyn
who decided she needed a nap.  She put herself to bed!

Jamie's family left at 4 for another Easter dinner at Sue and Dan's.  Ken and I left at 5:30.  It was hard to say our good-byes to our children and grandchildren.  We will not see them again until about July 20th, so it was a hard departure!

When we got home we organized both cars, did more packing, and I did some ironing.  This time at home has been hectic, but so special with family and friends.  Can't believe we will be leaving early Tuesday morning!
