Day 60 - We Began Our Trip Back to PA!

Ken and I were up at 5:45 after a restless night.  Ken was actually awake for about 1 1/4 hours.  We finished getting ready to leave the CG and by 6:30 Chuck and Melissa came outside so we could say our good-byes.  Tears were shed as we wished each other safe travels and assured each other that we will we get together again in the very near future for more traveling adventures.  We are so thankful that they decided to join us on this trip!

We were on our way by 7 AM taking Route 59 and seeing some beautiful sites along the way.  Can't get enough of the gorgeous rock formations!  One unfortunate thing happened after we were on the road about 3 hours.  A truck passed us and a rock hit Waldo's windshield.  It made a spider web type crack and then the hairline cracks started coming off of it.  Fortunately we could continue without it affecting Ken's line of sight.  One other good thing.  We talked to our insurance company and a new windshield will be totally covered and they take care of all the details of getting it repaired.

Then we turned onto Route 89 heading towards Page and on towards Flagstaff.  This was a very scenic route -

Heading through the canyon.  Note my foot with an ice pack!
I have a swollen ankle since hiking Angles Landing!

These gorgeous sites are just......

,,,,everywhere....
and everywhere!

A picture of the bridge over the Glen Canyon Dam
 from a distance!

Approaching the dam bridge!
We pulled over so Ken could take some pictures of the river
cutting through the canyon!

The dam at Lake Powell!

Beautiful Lake Powell!

Where does the road go????

Wow, can we fit through that small space????

Snow on the mountaintop!

Cave like openings in the rock formations!
We stopped at a CG around 5:30 about 80 miles from Albuquerque, NM after driving about 500 miles. A long day! Talked to my mother and Dad had a better day, but still a long road to recovery!  We hope to be on the road early again tomorrow morning and cover another 500 miles.  We shall see!
