Beautiful Day on Pine Island!

Today was a surprise!  Much nicer than forecast.  It was sunny most of the day and around 83 degrees, again!!!!   Ken and I decided to head to the park at Matlacha where they have a launch for kayaks and canoes.  We were in the water by 9:30 paddling along the shoreline.  Next time we need to pay abit more attention to the tides.  It was low tide and many places it was only about 1 or 2 feet deep.  We reminded each other that if the kayak tips, just stand up!!!!!  The chance of drowning was pretty small!!!

We passed a lady who had the rope to her kayak tied around her waist and she was wading in the water looking for something.  So we asked what she was searching for?  She finds horseshoe crap shells after the crabs have shed their shells and then she paints them to look like the face of a pirate.  It would be interesting to see them once they are completed.

We paddled 1 1/2 hours with the inflation, paddling, and deflation all going well.  We are definitely learning each time we use it!  It is so much fun and the areas around here are perfect for kayaking.

I took a class at the campground this afternoon on cardmarking with rubber stamps.  It was a fun thing to do with other women from the campground.  Ken took a bike ride while I was there.

We continued our shuffleboard tournament right before dinner, and I won both games.  So now we are tied!!  This game can get brutal!

Tomorrow we are playing to drive to Sanibel Island, taking our bikes so we can ride around some of the Island.  Then we will drive to the end to Captiva to have lunch at the same place we have gone the last 3 years.  We will probably spend some of the afternoon on the beach.  Then, I have a "date" to play tennis with Ed tomorrow evening under the lights at 7:00.  Should be another fun day!

This photo taken from our campsite around
6:15 tonight.  Beautiful clouds!

Ken took this photo while riding bike!
\This was a special "Cloud Day"!

Gorgeous variety of palms and more puffy
clouds.  Again from Ken's bike ride!

Shelley got to see a pelican and anhinga
upclose and personal while in the Kayak!

Palms and gorgous shore point along the coastline
while we were kayaking!

Shelly loves her trips on the kayak with
Grandma and PaPa!

Beach House, palms, and docks along the
shoreline while we were paddling!
