Saturday in Pine Island

Ken went for a bike ride this morning while I played tennis doubles with Ed and his friends, Brock and Larry.  We had another fun time on the courts!  Ken stopped to check out the eagles nest and got a photo, but he was fairly far away!

They had a craft show at the CG with vendors from outside the CG and inside, so we checked it out.  Then we headed to the Earth and Spirit Gallery - a nice shop with a beautiful garden area with gazebo behind it.  The owner gave us permission to collect some fallen coconuts so I would be able to make some additional painted fish!

Left there and went to downtown Matlacha to witness the mullet tossing contest!  How could we pass it up.  If you look closely on the photos, you can see the mullets flying through the air.  The winner throw the mullet 125 feet.  Strange to see fish flying!!!!  Ken had some delicious steamed gulf shrimp.

Then we spent about 1 1/2 hours relaxing by the pool.  There was much more sunshine today than predicted and it got to 80+ degrees.  Gorgeous day.  After we make dinner, we are heading to the clubhouse for a 15 year old blues musician that has recorded in Nashville.  He is supposed to be great!  We shall see!

Mullets ready for tossing!

Can you see the flying mullet?

Shelly liked her 1st mullet tossing festival!

Another mullet in the air!

Ken's bald eagle siting!

Nice to play tennis with the palm trees!

A sample plate of the steamed Gulf shrimp!

Tomorrow we are hoping it will be less windy and we can kayak from Matlacha.  That would be fun!
