Bike Riding Day!

This was another very hot and busy day.  After a good blueberry pancake breakfast, we loaded up the bikes, packed a lunch and drove into Canada.  Wow, we are international travelers!  No problems at customs - we were through in no time.

After crossing into Canada, we drove west about 2 miles, parked the car and got on our bikes to ride the paved St. Lawrence Bikeway.  It started near the 1000 Island Bridge and we rode the 10 miles into the town of Gananoque.  The trail was fairly level, but it was such a hot day.  We loved the little village of Gananoque especially the town park area with a sandy beach area for swimming in the St. Lawrence River, the interactive water park for the little ones, the beautiful marina, and the little shopping area.  It was so picturesque.  We ate our lunch at a picnic table right at the water.  We rode the 10 miles back to the car, loaded up our bikes and drove to the town of Rockport.  It was on the water but not really much to see there!

The St. Lawrence River

Only 1 house on this island - privately owned,  Saw this
from the bike trail.

The paved bike trail is along the road with the St.
Lawrence River on the other side!

We stopped several times and crossed the road to
check out the water.  So beautiful!

Another privately owned island.  If you look closely, it is
wash day!

We were so excited to find sea glass on this small
beach area!

This is the sandy beach area in the quaint village
of Gananoque!

The free interactive waterpark in the village!  So cute
for the little ones!

Did I mention that we sat right on the water to
eat our packed lunch???

Yes, we were in Canada today!

We saw these street folks while in the park area.  Oh, no!
That is just Sam and Kathy!

Ken took this photo of us riding on the bike trail!

So we crossed back into the US and headed to Alexandria Bay, another little village on the water.  Walked around the downtown area and then had dinner outdoors along the water, the St. Lawrence Seaway.  Ken and Kathy really enjoyed their swordfish.  From the village, we could look across the water at the Boldt Castle.  It is magnificent!

Supposedly, this is the house George had built for
his mother-in-law!!!!

This is the Boldt Boat House.  George owned 60 boats,
including a large house boat!

Our treasures from today - Sea Glass!

We were back at the State Park by 8:00 - another very fun-filled day.  Played 2 games of Bocce and the women won both.  Hallelujah!  Went in around 9 when the mosquitoes decided to do their thing!!!!

Haven't talked to anyone at home.  We do not have cell phone service in the park and are so close to the Canadian Border that you get roaming charges from Canada.

Tomorrow is supposed to be another very hot day with a chance of thunderstorms.  They certainly could use some rain here.  All the grass is so brown, probably like at home!
