Skaneateles Here We Come!

Well today was another very full day!  We left the CG at 9:30 and headed east to Skaneateles on Skaneateles Lake.  We made one stop along the way at a produce stand and then arrived in the quaint little town at 11:30.  We went to the Chamber of Commerce to get maps and a "layout of the land" and recommendations for lunch and bike trails.  This is the 1st day we ate out since we left home last Thurs.  Wow!!  We made reservations for 2 at a local restaurant, Bluewater Grill, since it was the only 1 with seating on a deck overlooking the lake.  Instead of waiting, we took a walk around the downtown area going in and out of the local shops.  Some of the  gift shops were unique and interesting.  We also did looked for 2 geocaches - we found 1 and we're told that the other one had been taken.  Had a wonderful lunch with a great view - Ken and Kathy loved their fish tacos with beans and rice.

Walking the dock at Skaneateles!

Taken from the dock, these are photos of huge homes across
the lake!

Don't you love this little boathouse at one of the properties!

Downtown Skaneateles!

Huge home along the downtown street.  Note the beautiful garden!

After lunch, we got on our bikes and took a 6 mile ride on a local rails to trail.  Stopped along the trail to locate another geocache, but not successful.  We were at the right spot, but we just couldn't find it.  Not willing to overturn all the stones along the water to find the treasure.  Just didn't seem safe!

Left Skaneateles by 5 to go to Belhurst Winery on Lake Seneca.  Ken and I had not been there before, but the rest of our camping group was there.  We have heard over and over how we missed the best winery in the Finger Lakes, so we had to go there to end all the harassment!  It really is an exceptional place with an unbelievable setting.  After our wine tasting, we bought a bottle and some snack mix and sat on their deck drinking, eating, and enjoying the surroundings.  While we were sitting there a large group of people came out of the winery with tags saying Conestoga Tours.  Wow, that is from Lancaster.  Turns out the hostess was a teacher at Manheim Central (Ken and I graduated from there) and she had graduated from E-town HS where Kathy had graduated.  They were 2 years apart at had recently been at a banquet together.  It is a small world.

Only got back to the CG at 9, so almost a 12 hour day of adventure!  Life is good!  Planning to kayak on Canadaigua Lake tomorrow after eating at the lunch buffet at Belhurst.
