Travel Day to Wellesley State Park in the 1000 Islands

Ken and I got up alittle early this morning and continued packing for our move from the Finger Lakes to the 1000 Islands about a 4 hour trip.  We had breakfast with Sam and Kathy at 8:30 and were on our way by 9.  They probably headed out about 45 minutes later.  We usually do not follow each other - it is too hard when you are towing!

They took Route 104 some of the way for a more scenic drive.  Ken and I usually take more Interstates due to the size of Willie.  Being over 13 feet high, we get concerned about low bridges and underpasses on the more scenic routes.

We arrived at Wellesley State Park at 12:45.  Took about 15+ minutes to fill our water tank (we only have electric at this CG) and the site was uphill, so leveling took abit more time.  It was also around 90 degrees, and our site was totally in the sun, so we didn't move as swiftly as sometimes!  Also, since our canopy broke, we will not have much shade!  When we got our bikes out of Willie we discovered that Ken's bike had another flat tire!  That makes 3 in less than 1 week!  Also, it was time to do some laundry, and they only had 2 washers and 3 dryers in the CG and they were all being used.  Found out that the nearest bike shop was in Watertown, about 30 minutes away.  So, we decided to head to Watertown to accomplish both tasks - get the tire fixed and do the laundry.  By this time I was not in the best of moods, but Ken quickly help me work through it.  He tries not to let the little things get him down and is usually very successful.

Sam and Kathy arrived right before we left (3:30) so we told them we would be back around 6.  Off we went to retrace our steps back to Watertown.  It did work out well (accomplished both things) and were back to the CG by 6:10.  Ken started a fire and I made us salads and got potato packets ready for the fire.  Kathy got their food ready too.  Ken made us a rack of ribs on the fire.  They were so good.  Then we took a walk about a 1/4 mile from our campsites to the river to watch the sunset.  A gentleman arrived with a large camera set-up and gave Kathy and Ken some tips on how to take good sunset photos.  Back to our campsite to make s'mores and then by 10:00 we called it a day!  Looking forward to start checking out the area tomorrow.  May go to Cape Vincent to attend their annual French Festival.  Should be fun!

I love this photo!

Such unique coloring on the ripples in the water!

Interesting photo showing the ripples in the water
