Continued Fun at Letchworth

We started the day with a delicious breakfast of fresh blueberry pancakes.  While Kathy and I cleaned up from the meal, Ken and Sam loaded our 4 bikes onto our truck so we could take a bike ride on the Genesee Valley Greenway Rails to Trail outside of the State Park.  Just when we were loaded and about ready to leave, it got very dark and it started to thunder.  So, they placed a large tarp over the bikes and we headed inside Willie to play a game.  We tried a new one, Sequence with dice, and thought it was so much fun.  Liked it better than the Sequence game with cards.  (Thanks Polly for giving me this game!)  It was a very brief, mild storm and by 11:45 we took our packed lunches and headed to the trail.  We parked right outside of Mount Morris and got on the trail.  This was probably the most "unique" Rails to Trail we have ever ridden.  It was mostly grass covered with some tire tracks to follow and not very scenic.  We even had to carry the bikes over railroad tracks that are still used.  The trail was rather rough and bouncy, but it gave us a good workout. One of our highlights was spotting a bald eagle.

Not exactly a paved trail and this was on of the best sections!

While on the trail you cam upon this RR track that you
had to carry your bike over!  Rather unique!

We stopped at Cuylerville and ate our packed lunch sitting on the ground under a shade tree.  Rode out about 7 1/2 miles and on our way back stopped at  Moonies, a very nice ice cream shoppe with 24 soft serve flavors and also many choices of hard ice cream.  The ice cream was delicious and the decor was so retro - like a 50's restaurant.  We were back to the truck by 4:30 after a rather taxing ride.  Stopped in downtown Mount Morris, home of the writer of the Pledge of Allegiance and strolled through some of the antique shoppes and then back to the CG by 6:15.  Had a little happy hour and then made an easy supper.  Following supper we played 5 games of ladder golf and the men won 3.  Got too dark to continue!  Called it a day around 10:15.

Lunchtime!!!

Elvis is alive!  Here he is!!!

This was a very nice bridge along the trail that was just
dedicated last month!!  Note how we are all wearing our
helmets!  We are trying to set a good example, but it
sure does a "job" on your hair!!!
