Wonderful Day on Pine Island!

We feel so blessed to have such great camping friends!  This was such an amazing day!

Ken and I met Chuck and Melissa at 10:30 and we headed to the center of the island, parked at the park, and got on our bikes to ride to Bookelia at the end of the island - 7 1/2 miles.  What a beautiful ride on a great paved bike trail.  We passed many palm tree plantations and an enclosed screened building where they grow star fruit.  We walked the dock at the end of the island and enjoyed the view.  Rode back to the park and then drove to Matlacha to eat our picnic lunch in the park.

The growing of star fruit!

The trim these palms well so you can ride and walk passed
when on the paved trail!

Lovely palm plantations!

Still enjoy all the painted electrical poles
on the island!

We have such a fun time with Chuck and Melissa!
Their motto - "We are game for anything!  We are easy!"

After lunch we walked around and went in and out of the "artsy" shoppes as well as the boutiques and souvenir shops.   Then back to Willie around 4.  Neil and Nancy couldn't join us today - they had an appointment at the chiropractor!

One of her paintings of the Beatles in her garden area!

Everything she paints as many bright colors!

The little fishing shacks that have been made into
shoppes!  Reminds us a little of Key West!

Ken and I invited the four of them to come to Willie for dinner, each providing their own meat and a salad for themselves.  We had cheese and crackers waiting when they arrived around 5:30.  Nancy brought sweet potato fries, I made oven roasted potatoes, and Melissa made delicious apple dumplings.  Neil surprised us with ice cream.  We tried to eat outside, but the no seeums were so bad we had to move inside 1/2 way through dinner.  But, we had such an unbelievably fun and special evening.  It was such a memorable day that goes way beyond what we imagined when the day began.  Life is good!
