We are now out of Colorado and on to Utah! |
A rather unique rock formation! |
Looks like a castle in the distance! |
What animal do you see on the top of this rock???? |
Just beautiful scenery! |
OK RV Park is about 5 miles south of Moab and offers us a beautiful view of the red rocks from our RV's. We arrived a little before 11 and were set-up rather quickly. I called Noela and they were about 20 minutes from the CG. So, I told her that Ken and I were driving to Moab to find a Verizon store since the battery in our MI-FI card was bad and needed to be replaced.
The Verizon folks told us they do not carry batteries but sent us to a store only 2 blocks away and the gentleman there ordered us one that will arrive on Wednesday. We will be back in business soon. Fortunately our CG appears to have good cable and internet, so hopefully I will be able to download photos and post the blog even without our MI-FI.
When we returned to the CG Ernie and Noela had already arrived and it was so good to see them. After they were set-up, the 4 of us ate our lunch together outside. Then we decided to take a ride to the Visitors Center at Arches NP about 7 miles from the CG.
We watched the movie and checked out their displays and then drove about 9 miles into the park just to get excited about the area and stop at some of the viewing areas. We also took a short hike to and around the balance rock! It is a beautiful area with such unique red rock formations!
The Organ! |
The 3 Gossips! I think a better name would be the 3 Kings! |
Do you see the sheep on top of the rock????? |
The Capital! |
Some of the unnamed formations! |
Ernie decided to get a better view of the area! |

Salt Valley - Looks like a small city! |
On the way back to the CG we stopped in Moab at Zax's for dinner where they had an all you can eat salad bar and delicious quesidillias. We had a nice relaxing dinner with a lot of time to catch up on our families, etc.
We were back to the CG by 8:30 and decided to call it a day so we could get a good night's rest before heading into the Park tomorrow to do some hiking. There is so much to see here!
I did talk to my sister and Dad is running a fever, tired, and not feeling very well. Hopefully they will get him on some antibiotics quickly, because that is what it usually takes to get him well!
You will have to get used to seeing lots of red rock formations for I am sure there will be a lot more in the next several days!!!
Wow...love those rock formations! Fred & I see a turtle on that rock, but I could also be talked into a beaver (if you don't look too long). I am surprised Fred didn't say that!
ReplyDeleteSay "hi" to Ernie & Noela for us please!
