Our 1st Day in the Adirondack Mtns. near Lake Placid

I'll "show off" my granddaughters first!
Bria having fun on her scooter!

Cali just being Cali!!!
Ken and left the CG around 10 to go to Lake Placid to see Jamie and her family, Sue and Dan, and Matt, Nicole and Ethan Stradling.  The 20 minute drive from our CG to their house in the center of downtown Lake Placid was beautiful.  We could see so many ski trails, gorgeous mountains, and stony mountain streams.  Breathtaking!!!!

The scenery is breathtaking.  Note the ski  runs!

The house they are renting is huge with 5 bedrooms, and 5 1/2 Baths - the perfect place for so many families and for viewing the upcoming Ironman Competition.  Ken and I walked down to the Ironman "Tent City" to meet up with everyone.  There was so much activity and so many things to purchase in support of the event.  Bria, Cali and Ethan signed up to do the Ironman Kids competition tomorrow - a run with each participant getting a medal.  How exciting for them.

The Lodge Type Office at the CG!

They had snow in Lake Place when we arrived (not really).  This is always here!
I am in front of the ice skating area when the Olympics were here!

Looking down the main street of Lake Placid!  Dan is wearing his Ironman Backpack!

Bria, Ethan, and Cali are ready to do the
Bobsled Run!

This is the house they are renting in downtown Lake Placid!

Another view of the house.  The porch overlooks Lake Mirror!

Another view from the porch!

We all went back to the house to have lunch and just relax.  Dane, Dan, Ken and Matt went to drive the bike course so Dane could get a feel for the altitude, curves, etc.  About 20 miles from the house, they dropped of Dane with his bike so he could ride the remaining miles of the 114 mile course.  On the way back, he made a wrong turn and road 3,000 ft. of altitude to the top of the mountain, ending up at a toll gate near the top.  At that point he realized he had made a wrong turn.  He said it was the hardest ride he ever did and figured he would have a hard time finishing the course on race day if he had to do this again.  He was relieved to realize he did not need to repeat this climb.  Now the real course will seem "easy"!

Dane on his "warm-up" ride!

We all went out to dinner about a block from the house and then spent the evening on the porch playing the bean bag game and just chatting.  We were back to Waldo by 10:45.  A very nice day with family and friends!

Here is the happy crew minus the cameraman, Ken!

Aren't they adorable - spoken by a prejudice Grandma!

Relaxing on the large porch!

Trying to determine who scored "what points" in the
corn hole game.  Winning was important!!!
