A Nice Beach Day! What a Surprise!

We woke to 34 degrees today with plenty of sunshine!  It felt cold to us Florida snowbirds, but it did reach the mid 60's.  We got a phone call from Jamie - they didn't have any electric and they have electric heat.  Ken suggested they call Ephrata Borough and see if there was a problem they were aware of.  She called them and left us know that the borough was trying to correct the problem. About an hour later she called to report that their electric was back on, but the house had gotten cold - 56 degrees!  Ken and I had a cooked breakfast, cleaned up, and I made phone calls to 2 of my Curvette friends at home and to our camping friends, Chuck and Melissa.  Then we headed out for a walk around the campground.

When we returned, we packed our lunch and got ready to go to the beach.  We put on sweatpants with shorts underneath, hoping that it would get warmer on the beach.   Ken talked to Kevin on the way to the beach and then we stopped at the Wal-Mart so I could check if their liquor store at Parrot Bay Key Lime Rum, one of my favorites.  It seems that most places no longer carry it. Hallelujah, I was so excited to find it on their shelves.  Bartender, Ken, will be busy making those special drinks!

Doloris and Fred pulled into the parking lot at Manasota Beach right behind us - we couldn't have planned it any better if we would have tried!  As soon as we stepped on the beach we couldn't believe how beautiful and warm it was.  Ken and I were in our shorts the entire time we were there.  I kept my sweatshirt on, but Ken was warm in his t-shirt.  Not an exceptional day for finding shark's teeth, but we found plenty!  I had a good day finding shell pieces for my jewelry!  We only left the beach at 5.

The beach was fairly empty when we arrived, but more people
arrived after lunch!

How beautiful!

This is a special photo!

Cindy and John stopped by at 6.  Cindy loves doing karaoke at this campground, so they planned to be part of that activity here this evening.  Fred and Doloris were here by 6:20 to have dinner with us.  Cindy and John left for the karaoke and the 4 of us got busy making grilled steaks and salmon, plus salads and quinoa.  We were supposed to met Tom and Becky here in our CG at 7:15 for them to give us some info on star gazing and have us look through their telescopes.  So, we hurried through our dinner, but only got there about 7:30.  They were ready for us with 6 chairs and table set-up outdoors around a fire ring.  The 2 telescopes were set-up and waiting for us to enjoy viewing the planets and constellations.  They are so knowledgeable and Tom did a great job of teaching us how to use his telescopes.  It was a fun time and we were grateful for their hospitality.  We also got a tour of their 40' motorhome - it is beautiful and so homey!

It was an inviting campfire!

The small "dot" on the left is Venus and then there is the
beautiful small crescent moon!

We were back to Waldo by 9:30 and I made hot tea for Doloris and me.  We were chilled.  We spent sometime planning our schedules for the next 2 days (they will be leaving early Monday morning) and then played Haus (the women won big time!) and the men humiliated us at Skip-Bo.  I think we are going to have to cheat if we ever want to win that game!

They left at 11:15.  Ken did the dishes while I worked on this blog.  What a guy!  We were so thrilled to have such a nice day on the beach.  It was unexpected!
