Here We Are At Venice and Ramblers Rest CG!

Ken and I were up by 6:30, ate breakfast and got ready to leave Pine Island.  Then we had a "slight" problem.  When we started to put our large kitchen slide in, Ken tapped on the window so I would stop the process.  The front of the slide was coming in slower than the back and making a grinding sound.  Long story short, we were concerned we wouldn't be able to leave.  You can't drive down the road with a slide hanging out.  Eventually we were able to get it in by it made clicking sounds and it appeared that the gear was "slipping".  By 8:45 we were on our way to Venice, but both of us were alittle shaken!

We arrived at Ramblers Rest at 10:15, but were told that we couldn't check in until noon!  Really????  So we walked back to see Cindy and John who were leaving today for Harbor Lakes CG.  It was nice to chat with them for a half hour.  Then they were on their way.  Ken and I walked around the CG to see if there were any available sites that looked good.  Cindy and John had a terrible site for the 2 weeks they were here.  Way tooooo small for a motorhome!

By noon we were back at the office and they gave us 2 site numbers to check out.  We really liked the one, but when we returned, they had given it to someone else!!!!  The reservation lady felt badly, so she gave us a more premium site for all the confusion. It is a very nice site at a great place in the park.  Hallelujah!!!!

We did some set-up and Ken talked to a service person at Lazydays RV and he said we need to keep the slide in until it is fixed, as we could do more damage.  So, we will be living in "tight" quarters until it is repaired.

We had hoped to meet our friends from home, Fred and Doloris on the beach by noon, but obviously that wasn't happening.  We got there at 2 and it was a bit chilly and very windy.  John and Cindy joined us at 3.  We enjoyed chatting, but it was not a good day for finding sharks teeth.  The 6 of us left Manasota Beach at 5:30, each to our own "residence".  Fred and Doloris came to our campsite so we could discuss our "schedule" for the week they are visiting with us.  Around 8 we went to Sonny's Barbeque for dinner.  Then  back to Waldo for a game of Skip-Bo which was narrowly won by the men.

The PA crowd on Manasota Beach!

Fred and Doloris are so happy to be in Florida and then the
added bonus of dinner at Sonny's!  Doesn't get much better!

We called it a day around 10:15.  Ken and I headed to bed.  It was a fun day with some challenges along the way.  Looking forward to a great week with Fred and Doloris!
