1st Full Day at the Beach with our Family! Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Ken and I heard activity above us around 6:15 and never went back to sleep.  We got up around 6:45 and at 7:00 4 sweet little gals came into our room singing Happy Birthday and blowing the birthday horns.  So cute.  We had a group hug and then I got to open the cards that each one of them had made for me.  What a special time!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Those birthday horns are loud, but festive!

A group hug for Grandma.  I am one blessed lady!

When we got to the kitchen there were fresh baked donuts (still warm) from the Fractured Prune.  If you have never had one of their donuts, you are missing out on a very special treat. They positively melt in your mouth.  I got gifts from the girls and also a large pink pin that said "Birthday Gal" that I was required to wear all day. No problem.  I was happy to oblige.

After breakfast the 8 of us got on our bikes (PaPa struggled to get on his with his back spasms) and rode around the neighborhood and the adjoining development across the street.  Amazing to see everyone riding 2 wheel bikes with no training wheel.  It wasn't long ago that we were pushing double strollers!  Time sure has a way of moving on!!!!  The little ones, Ken and Dane stayed at the playground while the ladies went back to the Condo to pack lunches for the beach.

Samantha loves to ride bike!

We took over the neighborhood!

Daddy/Uncle Dane being a "helper" at
the playground!

Looks like a movie star!

I was treated like a queen all day!  We drove to Bethany Beach where we spent 2 1/2 hours enjoying the water, surf, and sand.  The girls had such a good time. PaPa had a lot of trouble today getting in and out of his chair at the beach.  Of course, he loves playing with the little gals in the water, holding their hands while they are jumping waves.  Not a good thing for an older PaPa with back spasms!  We left the beach at 12:30 and PaPa was barely able to get to the car. Actually we picked him up at the boardwalk.

Castle building time!

Mommy was a builder too!/

What a special family!

What a happy day for this grandma!

As PaPa says, "Run for your life!"

Back to the condo where Dane, Bria and Ken went to the pool (PaPa actually sat in the hot tub) and the rest of us showered.  The girls watched a movie and then play Life!  Ken took a nap when he returned from the hot tub and the girls and I played Skip-Bo and Word Nerd while enjoying some special drinks!

At 4:45 we all drove to Rehobeth Beach to enjoy a great Mexican meal from Dos Locos along the "main drag" in the downtown area.  The girls had called a made a reservation there for my birthday.  The waiters put a large sombrero on my head, sang Happy Birthday and brought me a cupcake complete with a lighted candle.  The 8 of us shared the treat (Dane passed)!

Ken was enjoying his "large" margarita!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Then we walked up to the beach and were amazed by the number of people that were still there.  It was a beautiful evening. Ken took some great photos from the car on the way back of the sunset.  We were crossing over the bridge at Indian River.

Special mother and daughter moment!

Katelyn loved running after the seagulls!

Bria is becoming such a young lady!

Samantha decided she needed to clean up the beach!

A very busy night at the boardwalk!

Back to the condo by 8 and the girls got ready for bed and finished watching a movie they had started this afternoon.  All of them (the adults too) were awake a little before 6 AM, so everyone was tired.  It was a wonderful 1st full day of our family vacation and what a perfect way to celebrate my 65th birthday!  Can I really be that old?????  I was so blessed to spend this special day with my family!

A special day for this mother and her daughters!  I love
them so much!
