On Our Way to Bluff City, Tennessee!

Well, today we headed into Chuck and Melissa "territory".  We were up by 6:30 and got ready for the 250 mile drive, mostly on Interstate 81.  We had planned to leave the CG by 8:15, but as per usual, the boys were in "who will be 1st to pull out mode" and we were on our way by 8.

We made one stop for gas and another at a rest stop, arriving at Lakeview CG in Bluff City, TN at 1. As per usual, Ken did a great job driving while I made phone calls to my mother, sister, Noela, and Nancy Savage.  Noela and Ernie are on their way to Florida, having spent last night in North Carolina.  They planned to arrive in Florida today and get their 5th wheel out of storage on Wed. Neil and Nancy had their 1st 10 hour day working at Amazon in Kentucky and it went well.  They are a bit sore and tired, but that is to be expected at the beginning.  I also played some games while we traveled.  I wanted to work on my computer, but did not have a good internet connection while driving.

Some beautiful countryside!

Chuck and Melissa took the lead today into their home
state of .......

This is another nice CG and being able to use Passport America is an added bonus at $21.00 per night.  We were set-up by 2, made our lunches, and the 4 of us sat outside enjoying the sunshine and warmer temperature - 62.  (It was 38 degrees when we left Waynesboro, VA).

The 4 of us went to Wal-Mart for some needed groceries and then Ken and I went for a walk around the CG.  It is bordered by Boone Lake, a man-made lake that is controlled by a dam that was built around the time of WWII.  When they drained part of the lake they discovered a huge hole in the dam that will require major repairs.  It is estimated that it will take 6 to 7 years until it will be working again.  Needless to say, the water level is extremely low and the boat docks are sitting on dry  land.  What a devastating situation for the marinas, boat showrooms, boat repair places, campgrounds, homeowners, etc.  Hard to imagine what will happen to the area over the next 7 years!

Hard to imagine that these boat docks, owned by the CG,
were in the water and they rented boats to the campers!

I think people who were camping at the CG also could use these docks!

At 5 we had a "Happy Hour" where we enjoyed chatting and sharing while sipping our margaritas.  Then it was time to grill, make dinner, and clean-up. By 7:30 it was game night!!!!! It was a victorious night for the men in both Pinochle and Skip-Bo.  Well, they did do a lot of driving today!!!!!!
