Gorgeous Sunny and Warm Day!

Isn't this pathway beautiful?

This spider was at least 5 or 6 inches!

The Suwannee River!

The Spanish moss on the trees is so pretty

This is a lake in the CG!.  There are wire swans on the island
that are lighted at night!
What an unbelievable day in Live Oak, FL.  It was sunny and 89 degrees today!  We are staying at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park CG.  This place is like no other CG we have ever stayed.  It is situated on over 600 acres along the historic Suwannee River.  There are miles of walking and horse back riding trails through what looks like old Florida vegetation with lots of Spanish Moss.  It also has the world's largest bat house and a pro quality disc golf course.  They offer at least 9 major music concerts/festivals throughout the year with 10,000 to 30,000 people in attendance.  They have had many major music stars including Lyle Lovitt, Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, Montgomery Gentry, Trace Adkins, and the Allman Brothers Band, who host an annual concert in April with 30,000 people attending.  It is beyond our comprehension what goes on here.  We think some of these concerts are probably a mini Woodstock!  When you purchase a 4 day concert pass you also get to primitive camp for free and you can pitch a tent anywhere (and I mean anywhere on the property).  It has to get crazy!  Ken and I think we may have to attend one of their "calmer" concert just to see what goes on!

After a very relaxing morning of reading and "chilling", Ken and I decided to take a walk on some of the trails throughout the CG.  We walked to the Suwannee River, the beach area and on lots of the woods trails.  We actually got in 15,000 plus steps today.  We also checked out the bat house (plan to go back there around dusk), the reception hall (a beautiful building for wedding receptions, etc), the open field where they have the huge concerts, the cafe with 2 bars, daily food specials, and live music on Fridays and Saturdays, the Camp Store, and the little ice cream and pizza shop.  You just can't imagine what this CG has to offer!
The huge country store!

The gorgeous Grand Hall for parties, wedding receptions, etc.

The ice cream, pizza, and sub shop!

The CG Chapel complete with stained glass windows!

The large Bat House - largest in the world!

Also, in the back of the CG along the river is a canoe/kayak/tubing rental station where they will take you up the river in a van so you can paddle or float back to the CG for a very reasonable price.  You can bring your horse and keep it in the stables on the property (stalls for 100 horses) or as a horse owner you can rent a 50 x 100 lot for your horse and your camper.   Isn't that wild???  We found an area along one of the trails where spectators to the concerts and campers put things on the trees to let people know they were here.  Another crazy thing!!!!

This is the rental station for the boats, kayaks and tubes!

The bra tree!

The Americana tree!

The flip flop tree!

After dinner (leftovers from eating out last night), we drove back to the Bat House to see what happens at dusk.  We had to wait about 40 minutes, but eventually they started flying out for the night.  It didn't quite happen as we expected. They came out in small groups, but many hundred sort of "dive bombed".  Surprising how close they will come to you before gaining altitude! Ken tried so hard to get a picture of the bats, but it was too dark!

Back to Waldo for a relaxing evening.  We will be heading to Lazydays near Tampa early tomorrow morning!

  1. We should have our bras side by side on that tree. We both know what might happen if Mom would see it!!
