On to Myakka State Park!

Ken and I were up by 7:30 and we got ready to go for our final walk around the CG.  The 4 of us left at 8:30 and were back by 9:15.  A simple cereal morning since we were planning to head out around 11.  Ken showered and then he went over to talk to George.  I went to see Jean and she so generously came over to Waldo to help me with some computer problems I was having.  I could not get my Goggle Chrome to work and after some searching on the web, she found out that lots of folks using Vista as their search engine had the same problem I was having.  My error message was "Whoa!  Goggle Chrome has crashed".  It seems that the problem is with Vista!  I may have to soon get a new computer with a more current search engine!

This is George and Jean with their Bounder in the
background!  What a moustache!

The 4 of us are "hooked up" and ready for the
trip to Myakka!

We said our good-byes to Jean and George (they leave for NC tomorrow morning) and Chuck, Melissa, Ken and I went up to the activities center parking lot to hook-up our tow vehicles.  We were on our way to Myakka by 11:10.  We followed each other for the 123 miles to our next location, stopping at a rest stop to our lunch on a picnic table.  We arrived at Myakka around 2:30 and we made a great choice of sites when we booked them on the internet.  (Who knew????)  They only have one loop in the park that has full hook-ups and the sites are so beautiful, private, and surrounded by native vegetation.

This is our site at Myakka State Park!  Rather "roomy"!

Chuck and Melissa are right beside us!

After getting set-up, we relaxed for just a little with cold drinks (it was 85, hot and sunny) and then we hopped on our bikes to get a "lay of the land".  We rode about 6 miles and saw so much wildlife - wild turkeys, deer, alligators, and beautiful birds.  This is a very special place!

We need to ask the rangers what kind of bird this is???

A beautiful blue heron!

Great place to ride bike!

We saw at least 18 deer on our short bike ride!

This deer was concerned about us being so close!

We saw 4 wild turkeys!

This ibis looks like he is proud of himself!

This was a large alligator!!!

If you measure the number of inches from an alligator's
eye to the end of his snout that is about his length in feet!

On our way back to the campground!

This hawk was in a tree right at the entrance
to our capground loop!

Back to Waldo by 5:45 and Ken became the grill master.  We made turkey sausage with grilled peppers and onions, fresh asparagus, salads, and some fajita spring rolls for appetizers that Chuck and Melissa provided.  (They brought the asparagus too!)  What a delicious meal!

We all cleaned up, showered (in our separate rigs!), and then got together in Waldo for some game and card playing.

We are going to have a great time here at Myakka with bike riding and hiking!

  1. Wow! That sure does look like a great CG. Your site looks really nice. I wonder if that bird is juvenile heron that doesn't have his true colors yet? I am thinking that because of the speckling but he could be speckled adult bird! You'll have to be sure to tell us what it is. (We both soon wish we were there!). Doloris
