Ken spent most of the week doing somethings around the house that we seemed to ignore - wirebrushing, prepping, and painting the iron railing around our outside basement stairway and then painting the trim around all of our windows - wow!! He also had a lot of paperwork to "catch up" on at his desk.
I actually washed all of our windows, not one of my favorite tours, but the windows that tilt for cleaning certainly makes the job so much easier! I also spent a day helping my sister go through things and pack them for her move in about 1 1/2 weeks. What a job!
Friday night was the special time. Kevin and Wendy, the people that were a part of his Real Estate Team, had a surprise Retirement Party for him at the American Legion here in Ephrata, inviting all of his past clients, some lenders, title company people, family, and friends! I was in on the surprise, but they did all the work! Wendy put together a slide show from the pictures I provided, had a 3 tier cake made plus a special one that was a replica of our 5th wheel, Willie! It was incredible.
After years of hard work and dedication, Ken is taking a permanent vacation! |
My sister, Cindy, and our daughter, Lanie and her husband Bob! |
Our daughter, Jamie, and her husband Dane! |
This is an unbelievable replica of Willie complete with graham cracker sand and the ocean! |
Even the back was accurate! |
3 tier cake was chocolate with peanut butter icing and white cake with a raspberry filling. Delicious! |
Russ and Darlene were Ken's last client. He sold their home (years ago we lived next door) so they could become full-time RVer's. We hope to see them in Florida this winter! |
Kevin gave a speech talking about his years working with Ken. It was a wonderful salute and Ken appreciated it so much! |
Ken with Kevin and his wife Traci! |
Our great camping friends, Fred and Doloris who we camp with so many times over the summer. Our great card playing buddies! Always a good time when we are together! |
The Chestnuts entertained for the evening! |
This week will be another busy week and then we leave next Wednesday for a 6 week trip to Florida. We will 1st go to Jekyll Island for 1 week, then 10 days near Destin on the Panhandle (at Topsail), and the head south along the Gulf Coast! We are excited, since we have never been to Florida in the Fall.
