We arrived at the park at 11 and were told we would have to come back at noon to try to get a site. We hadn't made reservations and it was on a first come first serve basis. So we returned at noon and were about number 8 on the list. We felt blessed because we got the last full hook-up site for the night. The level sites are cement as well as the area for the fire ring and picnic table and because we had a large pull-through we didn't have to disconnect the CRV.
A state park in Aurora, Colorado! |
The sites were level, very large, and beautiful! |
We stayed here for 1 night to visit John Balmer and his wife, Suzanne. John was a fellow classmate from high school, and since Ken and I graduated the same year from the same school, both of us knew him. They arrived at the SP at 2:30 and we spent about 2 hours in Waldo just visiting and "catching up" on life. Last year they spent 8 months on the road in a Winnebago Motorhome, so we had lots to talk about.
Then they drove us to their condo in Aurora where we had more time to visit and then treated us to a delicious home cooked meal. By 8:00 the 4 of us rode back to the SP and said our good-byes. Ken and I really appreciated their hospitality and that they took so many hours of their day to spend with us. We look forward to seeing each other again!
John, Suzanne and Dash! |
Suzanne played the harmonica and Dash sang along. It was amazing! |
We had such a good time visiting with them and really appreciated the great meal they provided for us! |
