Another Long Driving Day!

Ken and I had a rather restless night and at 5 woke up to sound of rain on Waldo's roof.  By 6:15 we were up and getting ready to depart.  Unfortunately there was a heavy shower while Ken was removing the boards from under the jacks and tires and disconnecting the electric.  Of course, as soon as he came inside, the rain stopped.

By 7:30 we were leaving the CG and on our way to Columbia, Missouri.  What is it about the names of these towns?  For you PA folks we left Elizabethtown, Kentucky (known as E-town) and arrived in Columbia, Missouri.  We have towns with those names within a few miles of where we live.  Actually my parents live at Masonic Homes in E-town.  It is a small world!

We had a few light showers on our 429 mile drive today, but a lot less than predicted.  The last several hours we were driving in the sunshine!  We only stopped at 2 rest stops and one time for gas on our trip so we made good time. We were extremely pleased with the ease of getting around Louisville, which was directly north of Elizabethtown and crossing over the Ohio River....

...into Indiana

....and the 1st city when getting into Indiana, New Albany!

Then into the state of Illinois!

Next was Missouri with the beautiful bridge and the famous Arch when entering St. Louis!

Hard to see the back portion of the Arch, but it is there!

Google Maps did a great job of having us go around both cities.  We did notice this very large Casino in Missouri -

The Ameristar Casino.....
consisted of 2 large buildings!

I did talk to my sister, Cindy, and to our daughter, Lanie.  Samantha and Katelyn are loving school and soccer.

We arrived at Cottonwoods RV Resort in Columbia, Missouri around 2:45 (we did gain an hour which was helpful).  We hoped to keep the CRV connected, but the site was not very level.  It is a nice, well-maintained CG with large pull through sites.  It's just a shame they aren't more level!

We were both tired and took time to rest.  Nancy Savage called and Ken had a nice conversation with her.

After dinner, we took a walk around the CG.  Not very large so it was a relatively short walk, but impressive.  The new owners only took it over mid January and they are doing a nice job of upgrading it.

We watched the movie, European Vacation with Chevy Chase, because it was available and we hadn't seen it before.  Good for a few laughs but certainly not an award winner.  Went to bed by 9:40 and planning to spend tomorrow night in Salina, Kansas, another state to go on our camping map!
