Last Full Day in Sedona!

After a relaxing morning and a light breakfast, the 4 of us left the CG at 10 in the CRV and drove towards Sedona.  I never get tired of that beautiful drive and the gorgeous red rocks!

You can't help but love this drive!

We went to the Doe Mountain Trailhead west of Sedona for today's hike!  The guys promised we would do a shorter and easier hike today, but as soon as we parked they started talking about maybe adding to the up and down hike by doing a loop!  Oh no boys, we are doing a short hike so we can get to Picazzo's Organic Italian Kitchen for lunch at a decent time!  So we began the hike at 11:00 and although it was only a .9 mile trail, it was a totally upward, but a reasonable climb.  The trail was extremely rocky and at times it was fairly narrow, hugging the side of the rocks.  We found it invigorating and a great last hike for our stay in Sedona.

Starting the climb on Doe Mountain Trail

It keeps going up, and up, and up!  We did 500 feet of elevation
in the .9 mile hike!

But the views are getting incredible!

It this really the trail?????

Can we fit through this tiny crevice????

I think we are near the top!!!

When we reached the top you had a great view overlooking the mesa.  We sat there for about 45 minutes enjoying the quiet and the view.  Noela and I collected  rocks to make some cairns while we were there and I made probably my best cairn on this entire trip - I'm not bragging, but it was a nice one!!!!

Wow, what a sight!!!

Taking time to "take it all in"!!!

What do you think is over there????  No, Ernie, we are
not taking a different trail back to the parking lot!!

A great piece of artwork if I do say so myself!!!

I had to leave my "mark"!

The views on the way down were magnificent and you felt up close and personal to the rock formations.  We arrived back at the CRV around 1:15 and Noela and I were thankful that we hadn't gotten "lost" when following the boys!!!

Love this trail!!!

I love Sedona and all it has to offer!

A smiley face in this cactus!

Oh no!  They buried Mickey Mouse!!!!

We went to Picazzo's for lunch, a place Ken and I had gone to both of the other times we were in Sedona.  Their lunch special is a piece of pizza, salad or soup, and a drink for $10.00 and you get to eat outside.  The food was as delicious as we remembered!

After a stop at Wal-Mart we were back to the CG by 3:45 and the work began both inside and out for our departure to Mesa tomorrow.  It is about a 120 mile drive so we won't leave till about 8:30 or 9.  It will be a treat to have such a short drive!

Jamie's family will arrive in Tempe, AZ, about a 1/2 hour drive from our CG in Mesa, on Wednesday.  We are so excited to see them.  I can't believe that a week from tomorrow we will be heading back east to Florida to drop of Waldo for service at Lazydays and then drive home in the CRV.  In some ways it seems like we have been gone forever and then in the next breath we can hardly believe this western trip is just about complete, for it seems like it has flown by! Wow, this thing called life is interesting!!
