Monday - A Very Hot, Humid, Sunny Day!

At 3:30 Katelyn woke both of us with her yelling at Samantha to "move over, I don't have any room"!  Ken went over to see what was going on and Samantha had her head at the bottom of the bed and was in the center like a snow angel!  Poor Katelyn was in the upper corner of the bed!  Ken told Katelyn to grab her pillow and join me in our bed.  PawPaw moved to the LR sofa!  Sam never woke up!

Samantha and I got up at 7:30 and of course, she had no idea why Katelyn wasn't in bed with her.  She could sleep through anything!  Ken and I had such a good time chatting with her.  We realize that Katelyn is such a "chatterbox" that Samantha rarely has a chance to talk.  Katelyn never got out of bed until 8:45 which is amazing for her, because she is always such an early riser!  It was nice to have a chance to just talk with Samantha!

The girls wanted another pancake breakfast, so that is what I made for them.  Ken and I showered and got ready to go to Masonic Village.  We had time for the 4 of us to play UNO before leaving at 11:30 for our extended family picnic to celebrate Mom and Dad's 70th wedding anniversary.  We reserved a grove area on the grounds of Masonic Village and all members of the family were there (27) except Cindy's oldest granddaughter and her husband.  John, Ken, Cindy and I provided the pizza for everyone and all the other family members brought a snack to share!  Dad joined us via his electric wheelchair and Ken picked up my mother.

A great place for a picnic!

TW and Arlena provided the large bunch of balloons!

Austin, the youngest great grandchild, with his daddy, TW!

Lanie liked getting in on the pictures!

Cindy's daughter, Michele!

Bria chatting with her PaPaw!

Bria giving her MaMaw a hug and kiss!

Some of the Hosler clan chatting!

We love these girls!

There's Lanie again!

The youngest great grandsons - Jack and Austin!

Cindy also baked and decorated a cake for the occasion.

So beautiful and it tasted great too!

Cindy had a peanut scramble for all the young ones and the adults played ladder golf, can jam, and corn hole.

Cindy had prizes for the special colored peanuts!
Ladder golf is one of my favorite outdoor games!
Dad enjoyed watching!

John with his son, Dustin.  Austin was intrigued by
Dad's wheelchair!

Ladder golf becomes extremely
competitive!

There was a lot of time just chatting and visiting too!

Heather with her son, Jack!

It was a fun afternoon for all.  Mom and Dad were so grateful and surprised with the check we gave them with money that was given by each family.  Ken, the photographer, did a great job of taking photos all day and before Mom and Dad left, we got everyone together for special family photos -

What an accomplishment to celebrate - 70th wedding anniversary!

The Althouse family - I am blessed!

Dad, Mom, and their 6 grandchildren!

Dad, Mom, and their 9 great-grandchildren.  Austin was
sleeping and Alexandra wasn't there!

Everyone left by 4:30, but John, Cindy, Ken and I stayed and had a ladder golf tournament!  Ken and I won the 1st, they won the second, and we won the championship game.  What fun!

Ken and I were back home by 5:45, tired but very happy for such a successful gathering of family.  We stopped at Wendy's for a Frosty on the way home (that was dinner and it cost us a whole $1.06!) and then showered and watched the news.  Both of us were tired.

I worked on this blog and downloaded lots of photos Ken had taken. While working on it, we watched America Ninja Warrior!   It was off to bed by 10 after a busy and special long weekend!
