Thursday - Gorgeous, Sunny Day!

Finally a day of sunshine and no rain after 8:30 AM!  Hallelujah!  It was a welcomed "treat"!  We watched the morning news and then had a leisurely morning getting ready, cooking breakfast, reading, and doing devotions.  I also had time to do a little "crafting"!

We packed some drinks and a snack and were on our way to met Burt and Pat at their house by noon, so excited to see them again.  They live in a very nice condo in a great area of Kennebunk.  They gave us a tour of their home, then we chatted for a bit, leaving around 1:15 for a drive to Boothbay.   It was a beautiful drive.

We stopped in the little town/village of Wiscasset that had the most adorable, quaint shoppes and a very good coffee shoppe that called us inside.

This ship is designed to deflected the enemies radar!

I think they sell whole lobster dinners here!

A great coffee shop in a very old building!

What a sign!

There is also an eatery called Red's Eats that is known for their lobster rolls.  Burt and Pat told us there is always a long line waiting to order and today was no exception although it is off season.  We talked to one couple who were just getting ready to place their order and they had been in line for 1 1/2 hours.  The lobster roll looked amazing for those folks who enjoy that kind of food and it cost $24.95 - wow!

What a waiting line!!!!

It looked like a whole lobster plus in the sandwich!

From there we headed northeast to our original destination, Boothbay, another seacoast fishing town.  From there you can take boating tours to whale watch, fish, or to an island to see the puffins (not the right time of year for seeing them).  We enjoyed sitting on the dock and then walking around the village and checking out some of rather unique shoppes.

The dock area at Boothbay!

Lots of different boating tours are available!

Burt said the chairs made from lobster/crab traps were actually
fairly comfortable!

It is a quaint little village with very interesting shops!

Ken and I felt like we were in Lancaster County when we
walked by the Whoopie Pie Shop.  No, we were tempted, but
we didn't purchases any!

Just pretty!

Mountain and wave sculpture!

We could not believe the difference between high
and low tides!
We planned to eat around 5, but the Tugboat Restaurant didn't open till 5:30 so they took us on the most scenic drive stopping at a small cove where I found some great very flat rocks for painting.

Saw this lighthouse from the cove where I found the
flat rocks!

Isn't it a picturesque cover area???  I loved picking up the
beautiful flat rocks!

A 2nd viewing of a lighthouse from that area!

Back to the Tugboat Restaurant for a delicious dinner while enjoying a fantastic view of the harbor.

Not a bad view while eating dinner!

We headed back to their home in Kennebunk,  leaving as soon as we got there to go back to Moody Beach CG.  We were in Wilbur by 9:45 after a fun-filled day with Burt and Pat.  We really appreciated spending time with them.  Looking forward to getting together again at their home on Saturday night for dinner and card playing.
