Saturday - Off to Bethany Beach!

Ken and I decided not to leave so early this year since we can only get into our Condo around 2.  We were up by 6:30 and Ken did a little reading while I did my exercises and stretches.  We ate some cereal, loaded the food in the coolers and were on our way by 8:30.  It was a beautiful, sunny morning but already rather warm.

When we were driving the back roads in Lancaster County it was amazing to see all the high water with so many creeks overflowing.  One of the ways we would normally go was not drivable because of all the water on the road.  Traffic to the beach was horrendous when we got into Delaware.  We took a detour that was recommended by Google and it appeared to be better and a bit faster than the normal route.  When we got to Rehobeth Beach it was bumper to bumper traffic all through the town, taking about 45 minutes instead of 15!

We only got to Bethany Beach at 1:15, so it was a 4 1/2 hour trip (3 stops) that should have taken around 3 hours - Wow!  Ken and I ate lunch at Cottage Cafe, one of our favorite places when we had our Condo in Ocean City.  It was as delicious as we remembered.  By 2 we got the keys to our rental and off we went.  Unfortunately the 5 minute drive back to our place took about 45 minutes.  There had been an accident on the regular route and everyone was getting detoured!  What a pain!

We got into the Condo around 3 and quickly realized that it had not been cleaned!  After a phone conversation with the rental people, we were told the cleaning folks would be there soon, but they were also delayed due to traffic.  Not sure why they didn't tell us that when they gave us the keys!  So, I cleaned the frig so we could unload the food in the coolers and then we unloaded the remaining things, putting everything on the beds so they could still do their job!  The folks arrived around 3:45 and Ken and I headed to The Big Fish Grill near Rehobeth to meet Dan and Sue, Jamie's in-laws, so we could pick up Bria and Cali for the week.  They had stayed with Sue and Dan this past week week while Jamie and Dane were in California.  It only took Ken and I 1 1/2 hours to get there - Crazy!

The 4 of us stopped at the grocery store to get a few items, getting back to the condo at 6:45.  After a light dinner, we cut-up peaches to put on vanilla ice cream along with some whipped cream.  Having peaches on ice cream was a first for Bria and Cali and they loved it.  We spent the evening playing a game of Uno and Skip-Bo.  Bria and I were the winners of both!

All of us were in bed by 9:45 after a fun evening.  Looking forward to Lanie and the girls arriving tomorrow morning and then Jamie and Dane near bedtime.  It should be a fun week and the weather is looking very nice for going to the beach!
