A Needed Day of Rest!

Well, last night was an exciting one!  Our phones set off a warning at 3:45 AM saying that we should take coverage now because there was a tornado warning for our area till 4:15.  Not sure what we should do!  We looked outside and it was very windy and pouring rain.  We could see a few cars coming and going, but basically, it appeared that most of the CG was asleep.  We decided to get dressed and seek shelter in the clubhouse.  We got in our car and drove there, but all the doors we locked.  We drove towards a fire station, but had trouble finding it.  So we went back to Waldo (by then it was 4:10), listened to the weather on TV, and realized it was passing north of us.  We felt very fortunate. We did have some very heavy rain and strong winds, but nothing dangerous in our area.  There were some damaging winds very nearby and 2 deaths from a tornado that touched down in the Tampa area.
We were back in bed by 5 and then waking at 7:45 to get ready to go to church.  We have attended Edgewater United Methodist Church several times before when in this area and thoroughly enjoy their enthusiasm, friendliness, and great messages and music.  Today was no exception.  From there we went to Wal-Mart for a few needed groceries getting back to Waldo around 11:30.  We put the groceries in their place and then had lunch.

Ken was still not feeling great today (I think he did too much yesterday) so we talked to Ernie and Noela and told them we were going to "lay low" today.  They decided to go to the beach this afternoon to check out the high surf and what treasures might be on the beach.  It was cool and the winds were 25 to 30 mph.  Later they told us that it was very cool and so windy and there were no treasures to be found!

Ken took a needed nap while I made some phone calls to folks here and back home who had text, e-mailed, or called inquiring about our safety.  We really appreciated their concern.  By 3:30 I was done with the phone calls and started working on jewelry while watching the football play-off games.  I had stayed awake last night to watch that whole game, and it was amazing and crazy!!!  Today's games were exciting too!  I am a Steelers fan and really like Peyton Manning, so that game was a tough one for me.  I did cheer for the Steelers and hoped they would win, but I will be supporting the Bronco now!

We called and sang Happy Birthday to our daughter, Jamie, today.  Can't believe our " baby" is 36 years old.  How can that be?????  Before dinner, we skyped with Lanie, Samantha, and Katelyn.  So good to see and talk to them!

Ken made us salads for dinner and grilled some new chicken patties we had bought at Costco.  They were so good and very healthy!  Ken did some reading after we watched 60 Minutes.

He had walked over to Ernie and Noela's before dinner and we all decided to meet in the morning at 10:30 and spend the day together.  Today was a day for Ken and I to slow down and give him some time to hopefully get healthier and for me to make jewelry for some upcoming craft shows.

It is supposed to get down to the mid to upper 40's tonight with only a high of 62 degrees tomorrow.  We continue to have very unusual weather here in Florida ever since we arrived - cool, rainy, and not very sunny.  Hopefully that will change in the very near future!

No pictures today!  We spent most of the day in Waldo!
