Florida Here We Come!

I woke at 2:15 AM and decided to get ready for our trip to Florida.  Ken was up about 10 minutes later.  By 3:10 we were on our way and it was cold - 26 degrees.

We took Interstate 95 and traffic was light and we were able to keep moving. Ken was not feeling nearly as well today as the last several days.  Seems like he may have had a relapse, probably getting it back from me.  We appear to be passing it back and forth.  Usually we are so perky when we begin the trip to Florida, but both of us were tired and Ken certainly didn't feel like himself.  He must not have, because I actually drove for 1 1/2 hours.

We stopped at Denny's for breakfast on the south side of Richmond, made several pit stops, had lunch at Subway, and had some very heavy traffic about 2/3 of the way through South Carolina.  That is often a very congested area until you reach Georgia where they have 3 lanes on 95 instead of the 2 that they have in South Carolina.  We probably lost at least a 1/2 hour through that area.

We arrived at what we hoped would be our final destination today - St. Mary's in Georgia about 3 miles from the Florida border having driven about 790 miles. We certainly know how to make the most of a driving day.  Fortunately we had very good weather and most of the time the traffic moved well.

We checked into a La Quinta Hotel and then went to the Millhouse Steakhouse for dinner.  We had stopped twice at their other location at Brunswick Exit 38 in Georgia and really enjoyed their food and prices.  We were not disappointed.

Back to our hotel by 7:30 to watch a little football and then get a good night's rest.  It was a long day with a lot of driving, but we are excited to be getting to warmer weather and back to Waldo.  We should arrive at Lazydays around lunchtime tomorrow and will spend 2 nights there before heading to Naples.

We are so thankful for today's safe drive!
